"The time will come when men such as I will look upon the murder of animals as they now look on the murder of men."
Leonardo da Vinci, artist and scientist
^I like that. I know a few people who don't understand at all, but I see little difference between us and other animals. I don't need meat, I don't enjoy it. If I can avoid the suffering of another, I will, at least to some extent.
I say I gradually stopped eating meat 14 years ago, but I really did even earlier with seafood. I'm surprised my parents let me eliminate something from my diet so early, but I suddenly could not handle the taste and smell at all. Being in the same room as dead shrimp turned my stomach. Later, in middle school, I became interested in animal rights. I stopped eating red meat, I lost weight. I felt pretty good! I continued this trend and today, I am almost vegan. I'll probably never call myself vegan, I like cheese and ice cream too much. T-T
I know a person who is studying to be a dietitian who was horrified that I wasn't popping supplements. I try to get most of what we need through our food. Protein is in quite a lot, I don't care much about that except for my significant other (who is semi-vegetarian), who needs a little more than me to keep up the shape of his body. I am now attributing some problems to a deficiency in a few vitamins and minerals, though. I guess I have a few gaps I could do better with. I really hate taking pills, but I will consider some supplements to deal with those gaps.
I am so happy to see others here with a similar diet!
