Why does that tax your mental health? Because you work on commission?

Full-time student at the moment. I'm studying for Network Administration and (hopefully!) will eventually have my own computer repair business where the storefront also serves as an arcade and MMORPG gaming party area. It will be nerd paradise, if it works out. I'm also aiming for A+ and Linux+ certification.

I recently escaped from working as a salesperson for a retail store, though I won't name any names. It was hell, I quit.

P'Gell I noticed that so far no one who works with children has answered your poll. Do you think that there are no teachers here or do you think in our conservitive society teachers are more protective of their anonymity?

I work at Sam's Club serving samples. It sounds lame, but it's a good paying job. I do cook food frequently, but there are times where I pretty much just stand there and try to sell non-food items. Its not the best, but it's a job.

I am a stay at home mommy. And since that IS a job, and I have various jobs I keep up with around the house, I consider it work. I don't get money for it, but I do get joy and satisfaction. And bc I have made the decision to do this long term (till my 6 month old starts school) I am happy with it.

Although, I have a lot of respect for those of you who keep up with house work and or children. I could not imagine!!

Thanks, Gun. I appreciate it (I actually lost this thread and just got back to it!) I can't say no to someone in need when I have the knowledge and experience and could easily (or not so easily) help them. There was no way I could have sent that young mother packing without helping her, I was pretty sure what the problem was, how to solve it, so she and I worked on it.

I'm glad you are doing pro bono consulting, too, and in alternative energy. As we speak, our little wind turbine is dancing and charging two batteries (one for the riding mower) a fan and a light fixture! It sounds like great work.

I hope you cam get better help next time. It makes me sad when some hospital staff gets "assigned" lactation loop, and just stands there with her clip board, telling brand new mothers, "Just keep trying." NO ONE ever learned to nurse by being told, "Just keep trying." The LC has to get IN there, get her hands on the mom and baby and spend the TIME to do it right. My average consult is about 2 to 2.5 hours. I don't leave until everybody is happy.

I'd look into going to La Leche League meetings while you are pregnant next time, they can set you up and get you some mother to mother help and then refer you to a Private Practice LC when the baby is born.

And, besides that being a stay at home mom IS a worthy and time consuming full time job! I did that for years, loved it. Keep with it as long as you can.

Hmmm. I don't know the answer to that. I work with children, well new mothers and their babies. One women here is an assistant teacher, one is a teacher and many are Stay at home moms. I think a lot of teachers, especially in the grammar (I spelled "Grammar" wrong in the POLL! ) school, middle school and high school level may not want to be identified, and I understand that.
