I know this has been asked before, but we have a lot of new people and it's always interesting to see what people do, or are training to do.
What do you do for a living?

I'm a nurse and a Lactation Consultant and a Post Partum Doula. I love it! My newest patient is ready to deliver and I am almost as anxious as she is.
I helped a young mother over the phone late one night last week, she was poor and very young and crying and in pain (and her baby was crying in her arms as we spoke.) I tried to do the best I could with limited resources (it was over the phone and I couldn't SEE the problem,) and gave her some suggestions to try for her situation. It was a Pro Bono client. I couldn't charge this sweet young thing. She called me the next day to tell me that everything had worked out wonderfully, she and the baby were doing well and we both were in tears. It's a great profession.

P'Gell - great story. Doing Pro Bono work when you could really use the money is more than admirable.

Myself, just a boring IT job. Spent 20+ years doing environmental engineering, then got bored and decided to try IT. It's OK but I may be getting back into environmental through an alternative energy start up that I consult for (pro bono)

I had the worst experience at the hospital. I didn't even have my Dr.! My lactation consultant was useless as well. I hope to get someone who loves their profession more next time like you do!

Would've gone for Italian as well if my school had offered it! Unfortunately I had to take a semester off for financial reasons when I get back I might be reducing the Psychology degree to a BA so I can graduate on time.

I am a stay at home mom, blogger, crafter, etc etc. You name it, I do it lol! I would prefer to have a more "career" like job with the crafting and blogging, but I simply don't have the energy for trying to make it a paying career with the blogging. The jewelry crafting is a hobby, but if I can make a few bucks, then woot!
