My mum has been getting suspicious about the packages I've been getting (she even partially opened one of them) but is too polite to ask about them. Should I tell her about Eden? Or at least that I'm reviewing adult products? Or should I keep it hush hush?
To tell or not to tell...

Seeing how my telling her bit me in the ass. I'd be hesitant.

I think it would depend on your relationship. I know when I was living at home I wouldn't have wanted to talk to my parents about such things, but I know everyone's relationship with their parents is different. If you think she might react well then it might not be harmful to tell her but I've heard stories from others about family members not reacting well. Only you know her, and you can probably guess better than any of us how she might react.

Thank you for the response! I know that it's inherently my decision, I just wanted to know what Eden thought! My Mum's very accepting about sexual things, but never brings them up. When I was mature enough to ask to be on birth control, I was mature enough in her mind to be having sex.

It really depends on how open your mom is with you and sex toys. I might be a little freaked out if my daughter uses sex toy when she was eighteen. I know I'm not being fair since I use toys myself, but that's how I am as a mom! But then, I don't think I'll prevent her from using them.

Hmm~ She never has told me about sex toys or such, but she did have something that looked curiously like a Hitachi Wand in her room when I was younger that she used on her back!

Thank you for your response! Hearing from a mom helps put it into perspective!

Both of my parents are very very against sex of any kind. I think if I got married my parents still wouldn't accept that I have sex or use toys.
Just to keep things easier with them, I don't tell them anything. :/

I think I'll wait until she asks (if ever) to talk to her about it!

I was just about to suggest this. It all depends on how well you think your relationship is with your mother and how open she would be to knowing something like this.

i think you'd be the best judge, i know one of my friends moms who does something similar and would love it if her daughter was into it...but there are parents like kittygalore's also...

I'm inclined to feel the same way as some of the other folks that have posted; it totally depends on your mom and what sort of relationship that you already have with her.

it depends on how open and honest you can be with your mom without her being judgmental. You know her best.
08/04/2011
Depending on how your relations are with your mother, if she doesn't bring it up or act any differently, life goes on, however if she reacts then you might want to be honest.

this is why i'm glad i have an apartment at school. i send all my stuff there. my parents can see when i spend money & where i spend it b/c they have access to my bank account so they can send me money every now & then. this is why i started using EF. the points program.

While I am not one for lying, I think I would "stretch the truth" in this situation.

I told my Mom that I was getting products from a sex site and she didnt wanna know... she just said "Umm haha ok"...
Honesty is the best policy... youre 18... youre an adult... if you have a semi open relationship with her... she shouldnt care... just be honest and tell her that what you are receiving... maybe if you are honest and up front she wont open anything else lol

It depends on your relationship with her. My mom knows and could care less. If you think she'd be okay with it, tell her.

Ease her into it... lol

Depends on your relationship. If you your comfortable having conversations about your or hers sex life. Then maybe try to explain without going over board.

Agreed. If she's open to that sort of thing, then by all means tell her. But if she's more on the prude side, lie. Lie 'till your pants are on fire.

Go shopping at a drug store (one that sells the Durex Play Touch) with your mom, when you reach the feminine hygiene aisle, casually point at the Durex Play Touch, and innocently ask your mom if she know what that thing is. See her reaction and figure out if it's suitable to have more discussion on the topic. Hope that will work!

This. My mom knew from the get-go, and it was cool. Things have always been fairly open discussion-wise in our house, though. Other people on here have had distinctly negative reactions from parents, so it's best for you to gauge. If she's open to sexual topics and curious, I'd probably tell her. Maybe not the whole story with reviewing and all right off the bat, but just let the topic of toys come up.

That's a really good idea! i was kind of thinking of doing something like this, but it's hard to get her to go down that isle! She's really a 'get what we need and go' type of shopper! I was kind of considering asking her if she's ever owned any adult products...?

I don't live with my Mom but sometimes she goes to my place when I'm at work to get away from her room mates. She's seen my packages but hasn't opened them. She's seen some of the product packaging I've thrown out so be careful of that. Personally I don't mind that she knows. She even took me to an adult store to get my first toy.
