I am sitting here super sick with strep throat. I've been on antibiotics for 48 hours now, and all the doctors I've spoken to keep saying I should be feeling better. Now, they're calling in a stronger antibiotic, and I can barely speak at all -- my throat is so swollen! I can't bring myself to relax though, because I know my boss is angry at me. I don't know if she doesn't believe I'm ill or what, but when I tell her how I feel she just says, "fine, whatever, take a day off if you must..." and I kind of find myself wondering if I'm going to still have a job there when I'm feeling better. I ended up having to take three days off this week, and right before I got sick, I put a request in for 2 weeks off in January so I could go see my boyfriend. My request for time off got approved, but now I think my boss is going to give me a hard time about it -- if she doesn't fire me over this.
I really just want a little sympathy.

Oh my God, I am so sorry! I've had strep throat three times in my lifetime so far and I know how terrible it makes you feel! The antibiotics alone are a real pain to deal with. I have been having some kidney issues for the past year and I've been on so many antibiotic treatments that it is not even funny. They make me feel so weak and ill.
As for your boss, I understand that, too. Back before I got my incurable pancreas illness, I had a boss that was the exact same way. He wouldn't believe me, treated me badly when I came back in to work and just really added to my already terrible depression at the time. You are sick with a terrible case of strep throat! That's bad enough to deal with and your boss isn't helping by being so incredulous about it. I hope she doesn't give you a hard time about your two weeks off, too.
I don't know if saying this will help much, but I believe you 100% and can relate to what you are going through. I sympathize with your condition and I will keep you in my prayers. I hope it goes away soon and does not come back, because one of the times I had it, it came back almost immediately. I don't want that to happen to you, especially since your boss is seriously tripping out. Get well soon!
