some breeds are more dangerous than others, but I would definitely say its how you raise them for the MOST part.

There are no bad dogs, only bad pet owners. I definitely think certain people should be banned from having dogs.

Absolutely not. Dogs aren't born bad, they're trainned bad by bad pet owners. Service animals should stay with their partners no matter what the breed. Like I tell my daughter if it has teeth it's capable of biting.

I've never ever once had an issue with pitt bulls.

I have been bit by a cocker spaniel, and hubby was bit by one as well (Mine was the neighbors dog, his was his uncles dog in 4 counties over).

I dont trust cockerspaniels at all...

But I would never support a breed ban.

I voted on other because I believe what makes a dog aggressive is past life experiences or the trainer. Like for example I own a char pei and mallameux mix and she will back a stranger into a corner but not attack unless provoked (but standing at 2ft tall and weighing 70lbs I wouldn't provoke her either). I also knew someone with a pit bull boxer mix that was a large dog and he thought he was a lap dog... literally. I feel dogs are like humans, their life experiences shape who they are,

I think there are some dogs that are more friendly than others BUT i think it's all about how they are raised and such.

Ban Pitbulls. I have seen first hand 4 times, 4 different pitbulls that we owned and shown nothing but affection for viciously murder other pets we had.

One even bit a puppy in the head until it bled out simply because the puppy got too close to him. Another killed 3 of my cats for no reason (all my other dogs get along perfectly with my cats). Another killed my chicken and a cute little kitten that we had just adopted. If I had the choice, I would order all pitbulls be killed or banished to an island somewhere far, far away.

Simply put, there are NO bad breeds, but there is an infinate number of really bad owners.

Some breeds require more training and handling, but if you're going to get an animal you should research and be aware of the personality inherent to the breed.

And having worked at a veterninarians office and with animal rescue my entire life. The most prone to biting, and inherently agressive to people breeds, are the Cocker Spaniel or Chow Chow.

The after Labs and Irish Setters sweetest large breeds are Rhotts, Doberman (who are generally chickens at heart), German Shepards, and yes, Pitts.

I have mixed feelings on the subject. On one hand, raising plays a big part in a dog's personality, on the other, it *seems* that some breeds are more inherently dangerous than others.

A friend of mine, who is a police officer, had to shoot a pitbull when one attacked him after it had chased a 3-year-old.

A neighbor was cornered by a pitbull. A family member was chased by one.

When I was a teen, an aggressive pitbull attacked my dog.

I watch the news every morning. Every couple of weeks, there is a news story about someone, usually a child, getting attacked by a pitbull. It's always a pitbull. Why? Are pitbulls actually more dangerous, or are they just more sensational? I don't know the answer to that, and without that answer, I couldn't say for sure whether a town, county, or state should hold a ban on them.

Try this quiz and see how you do, then tell me whether you're still positive that these dangerous dogs are all really pit bulls.

No, no breeds should be banned, but some people should, especially the ones who raise dogs to fight and be violently aggressive and don't even get me started on those who abuse and neglect dogs or any animal for that matter!!!! There's a SPECIAL place in HELL for those "people", if that's what you want to call them!!!!

I believe that 95% of a dog's behavior is in how it is raised/ trained. The other 5% is environment, and, to a certain extent, genetics. Any animal has the potential to be unpredictable, but I think banning entire breeds is like banning certain groups of people.

Great points, couldn't agree more! However, I would like to add my Akita to the sweetest large breeds list, but they are one of those breeds that require the more training and handling and you better research them and be aware of they're personality, the alpha male in them MUST be kept in check or they will dominate and at 135lbs that is a recipe for disaster!

No, I don't think any dog should be banned. People who train dogs to fight, should be the ones banned.
