I know that a lot of grocery stores give you the option to shop for your food online and either pick it up yourself or have it delivered. I love this because so many people cannot get around well or they don't have a car! I haven't used this service myself but I was wondering if any of you have?
Have you ever shopped for your groceries online?

It must be where I live, but we don't have that option. That's sad. It sounds really neat though.

I din't think we have that here, either.
I'd SO use it!

My family hasn't done this anytime recently, but we used to do it in our last house. We had PeaPod delivering groceries for about 6 months, and then we stopped when my mom lost her job.

I have no idea if that's an option here. But I still do it the old fashioned way. LOL!

I've ordered pizza online, but not groceries.
Although, the store which is in walking distance to my current house offers it, and I plan to use the service once I'm done moving because they have great prices on meat and free delivery when the order is $75+
It would definitely cut down the impulse buys for junk food or other things I can't resist but don't need!

Jewel (I think it's regional store) has a service called PeaPod. They do your shopping for you, and deliver it to your house.
I think it's a great advantage for those who are too busy to shop, those with health problems, and other people.
I've never used it.
I had an interview with PeaPod when I was in college. As they considered it "Food Service" (although the shoppers don't get tips) they paid less than minimum wage. I didn't take the job.

Yes, I have a few times. But usually it's because I'm too drunk to drive to it. So when I do it's usually like booze and maybe cheetos, the delivery guy always seems to know wassup.

As far as I know, PeaPod does not deliver alcohol. It might be different in different states.

I know of this and there's a place that does it here where I live. My family and I have considered it, especially when we've been without transportation, but have yet to try it. It would be great if more shops would have this kind of service.

I'm not sure if the grocery stores around here have caught up to technology, yet, but I know a lot of them have delivery services. I used to work in an adult living center, and the residents were constantly placing phone orders and having groceries delivered by both the big box stores, and the "Mom & Pop" grocers.
I'll have to look into internet ordering. I dunno if any of them do it or not.

I've seen ads for home delivery, online grocery shopping, etc., for the nearby groceries, but I've never done it. I like picking out my own stuff, and I'm grateful that I have that option and ability.
04/14/2011
I haven't, but I've used these sites to find out whether the stores had the items I needed.
04/14/2011
I haven't used it personally, but I know a family who does it due to disability and they really appreciate it.

A few local grocery stores have a delivery service! it's so nice! There is also a booze delivery service in my city called Alco Haul! It's the bee's knees! Alco Haul also delivers white castle... what more could you want!

@Misfit Momma : Dammit, now I want pizza!
Alco Haul - awesome idea!
There's a town by me that has a drive thru convenience store (yes, sells alcohol).
I don't know if I could order groceries online. I'm a foodie type and have to look over every pack of meat. I also splurge shop too...that'd prolly get hindered too...

I would do it if the option was available where i live, it would save me a few hours!

Funny story, kind of related. When My Man was a teen, he worked at a small Mom and Pop grocery store. This store delivered, and he did the deliveries (this was before the internet, My Man is OLD ) and he always fantasized that some lonely housewife would invite him in and seduce him.
None of them ever did.
Sorry, it wasn't that interesting of a story. But, he wanted it to be.

Not an option here, but sounds pretty awesome actually. I hate grocery shopping.
