Sharing towels?

Contributor: Jul!a Jul!a
So I know my fiance and I aren't the only ones that do this, but assuming we're not showering together, most of the time we just share one towel. I mean, if you showered right the towel isn't really getting any dirtier by doing this, and it cuts back on the amount of towels we have to wash.

So does anybody else?

No, but not because I think it's gross. I just don't like trying to dry off with a wet towel. If he wants to use my wet towel to dry off though, he can go for it.

I suppose to clarify I did mean assuming the towel was dry to begin with, lol.

I hate drying off with a wet towel too, if we shower near the same time I'll grab a separate towel, but if we're showering on different days or at different times of the day, as long as the towel is dry I don't mind sharing, lol

*grumble* My soon-to-be ex-husband would wipe his nose on the towel while he was drying off, which is yet another reason he's going to be an ex. *grumble*

WE take showers at different times and it has never been a problem. Saves on laundry.

We usually take showers at different times except on the weekends, so it's never bothered me to share the towels. I always need 2 - an extra one for my hair.

I have the one for my hair too, the only time it bothers me that he uses it is that he uses it to wipe shaving cream off his face when he's done shaving.

I like to use my own towel. I don't think I'd call it gross but the idea isn't exactly alluring

We use separate towels. I take multiple showers a day so my towel would be wet any time he'd want to use it. Plus he uses his when he shaves and such so I wouldn't use his. It's definitely not gross to me.

We use separate towels in my household but only because each of us has her own bathroom and set of towels. Probably if I shared my bathroom with anyone, sharing the towels wouldn't be a problem.

Ok, I have to own my vote here: I know it really shouldn't be a big deal considering that generally towels are used after you've just cleaned yourself, but I have a serious OCD about smells and other people's towels just smell like them therefore making me smell like them. Even with my husband this is kind of a freak out moment for me. But I'm weird, I know.

The "It's gross and you're gross for doing it" is only partially true though: as long as you aren't sharing my towel, it doesn't bother me to know you're sharing with other people.

We each use our own towels and I use two, one for my hair. I just like totally dry towels.

If the towels are dry and clean, then I don't care. I think it is incredibly wasteful to wash a towel after just one use. Your body should be clean after a shower, so after the water evaporates, it seems to me that the towel is clean enough to be re-used a few times before throwing it in the wash.

My husband and I share towels, as long as they're dry.

I had to pick the "no" option because I'm not going to willingly share a towel with someone else. I don't think people who do it are gross, though. It's a personal preference thing, and it doesn't affect me as long as you're not stealin' my towel. ^_~

I'd rather not share a towel with someone because even though you've just taken a shower/bath/whatever, skin cells are always flaking off, your body is always producing oil/bacteria on its surface, and I'd rather not share that stuff with my partner. I know it's sounds kinda silly, because I'll totally lie naked with him and we share a bed, but...I just like using my own towel.

I like my own towel. There are times that a towel is shared. I would never worry about an extra towel in the laundry. And I do some laundry. I prefer a dry/fresh towel. I have good racks for them to dry before the next use. I use mine for 4/5 showers and then I get a fresh one. Sharing a towel or anything else can help build a better relationship and other things. Get get a shower with your friend/partner/spouse. Those of us w/o will be envious and long for need for a towel after throwing/ridding or loosing that opportunity.

Yea, I need a 2nd towel just for my hair also. Like Victoria, I save on laundry by not washing towels after just one use.

Oh we definitely share towels. There are four of us -- my husband, myself, our five year old and our three year old -- and our bathroom has racks for two towels. You do the math! Since we all bathe and shower at different times, the towels are dry whenever someone goes to use one. I usually wash both towels along with a set of bed sheets at the end of the week.

We both have our own towel. If his towel is wet and mine is dry he might use mine and vice versa for me. So we usually have two towels and we use them interchangebly for a week and wash them during the weekend.

We always hang our towels up in the bathroom to dry after a shower and I wash all the towels, washcloths ect. in the bathroom once a week. We don't necesarily share one mainly because I hate a wet, cold towel and we tend to shower either together or one after another.

We do the same thing. Not gross to me at all. Shower or not, he's had his body all over mine anyway.

We use separate towels. And I'm not sure how it reduces laundry to share. If you use separate towels, shouldn't that mean you wash them less frequently than if you shared one?

I choose other cuz I don't think you're gross for doing it but it just ain't my thing. I won't use Hubby's towel. I don't care if his butt is clean I ain't wiping my face with something he wiped his rear end on.

We don't do it, though I usually shower right before him, so my towel would still be wet. I definitely wouldn't do this with my ex. Somehow, the towels he used would be really dirty smelling after he took one shower.
