Seriously "loaded" question. Should legal aged, completely trained and licensed firearm owners, who happen to be college students, be allowed to "conceal carry" on campus?

Guns shouldn't be on campus or any school for that matter.

Now if only we could get people who want to shoot up campuses to agree with that, we'd be golden.

This whole debate has been spawned because mass shootings in the U.S. have pretty much only happened in gun-free zones (or in areas where the general population is highly likely to be unarmed). A normal gun-owner sees a gun-free zone and goes 'Oh, guess I better leave my gun behind for the comfort of those around me'. A person who wants to commit mass murder sees a gun-free zone and goes 'Oh, look, a shooting gallery'. Someone who wants to kill as many people as possible is going to be looking for unarmed victims, not the possibility that someone might shoot back and stop them.

Everyone should have the right to bare arms. If everyone is armed, everyone is protected from the criminals. In our world today, the criminals have more access to guns then the law abiding citizens, so who will protect them? I am very expirienced with guns, and I believe everyone (who wants to) should be as well.

And for everyone talking about people going on campus and going on shooting sprees, Imagine how many less victims there would be if the students were armed? He would be shot dead in his tracks after the first victim got shot. Police always come after an incident, not before.

I honestly don't know. I trust myself with one, but not someone unstable that was able to get their hands on one. I just recently sold my shotgun to get a revolver for my license but I hope I never am in the situation where I have to use it. I just really don't trust people, especially at night. I'm always looking over my shoulder or straining to hear things. I have a small hunting knife that I carry in purse when I go out at night. It's a legal knife, similar to a camper's knife. I also have pepper spray on my keychain.

if it is a public building, which a lot of colleges are; you should be allowed to carry a legal firearm. Private business have the right to control their business, and if they do not want people to legally carry they have that right. Not that it is a good decisions to not allow legal carry, but it is still their decision.

If someone wants to go out and shoot people, no amount of laws on the books will stop them from doing so. Laws only stop those who follow them, not the criminals. Which last time I checked on the word criminal, it had references to someone who broke the laws.

The media has been scaring people for years and brainwashing them about the evils of firearms. A gun is nothing more then a tool. When used right, it will not cause harm to a innocent person or ones self. Just like any other tool we use everyday in our lives. It is the person holding the tool that causes the damage. That is what we should be talking about. Not talking about taking the rights away from our fellow citizens.

I don't think that they should be on campus.

No.

There should never be a gun on campus unless it is held by police, and I don't even want their guns present on campus.

Recently discussed this with a friend actually. I believe they were allowed to have guns on her bf campus? Not sure. Tough question though...

Weapons shouldn't have a place on campus, but often they do, and that's no fault of the law. They are carried by people who disregard the law. Anyone who plans on committing murder won't be convinced or deterred to do so because of the laws allowing or disallowing people to carry on campus.

I was thinking the same thing. I can understand the argument by those referring to VA Tech and other shady campuses in bad areas (many in Philly), but with all the drinking and idiocy, there would probably be more stupid incidents than we have now. Don't you have to be 21 to have a license anyway?

Absolutely not.

Nope. A license isn't your golden ticket. Just as you think you might have the right to carry a gun, institutions have the right to not allow it.

I am not sure about the military schools, that is military business. But on a regular campus we shouldn't have guns, at all. But i do love registered gun owners, my entire family is big into guns. But on on campus.

no. guns have no place at college campuses.

and in the event of a school shooting, someone else having a gun - or multiple others having guns - is more likely to result in the situation escalating; people panicking and shooting, potentially killing innocent people, etc. there are too many risks, so no, i don't buy that as an argument at all.
