I have both a blanket and a necklace from my fave aunt who passed
Do you have a security item?
02/17/2013
Not anymore, but I admit my stuffed animals are still being kept in a closet at my parents' house.
02/17/2013
Not really. I keep my phone nearby, but it's my alarm. And I've been sleeping with my salsa. And before that Moka, and before that Siri. It seems I tend to sleep with my current favorite vibe. XD

Nope, I don't have a security item. I do have a stuffed animal that I use as a pillow to support my back though.

I don't ever remember having a security item, but probably did as a baby or small child. Unless you consider my pets my security items, I don't have any.

I gave it up sometime in college, but from toddler age on I "needed" something fabric with a sharpish point. This went back to some little stuffed toy I had which somehow developed a sharp spot. I kept the stuffed toy for years and years.
When the toy finally completely disintegrated, I would take the plastic bits off the end of the drawstrings on my hooded sweatshirts, wet the loose end and roll it back and forth between my thumb and index finger until it dried into a sharp point. Anytime I started to feel anxious, I could ease it by touching the sharp point with my fingertip, or rubbing on my skin. I'm sure that sounds weird!

I'm 25 years old and I have nothing other than my husband! He makes me feel pretty secure!

I do this, pretty much all day and can't sleep without doing it. I have a pretty beat up teddy bear full of holes and do it on the sharp seams inside of it lol. The sharp side of velcro and seams on cloths works nicely too. I also just rub my fingers together if I don't have anything to use (or I somehow think this might be less noticeable in public) but it isn't nearly as satisfying .

When I was very young I invented the word "suvving" or just "suv" (rhymes with of) to explain what I was doing, didn't think anyone else did it though!

I'm 23, nope I haven't have one in a while.
02/23/2013
yes! I have a blanket that my grandmother knit for me when I was born. I "need" it to sleep comfortably, or I tend to carry it around when I'm sick or upset. I know, very childish...but you can't tell me not to!
02/23/2013
Yup, I sleep with a stuffed animal (and use it as a pillow when I'm hanging out at home watching tv). My mom tried to get me to break the habit in high school, but I can travel and sleep without it so whatever.
