My parents raised us without Santa, and I never suffered for it. We had the German tradition of the Christ Kindel, and us kids went to the neighboring horse farm to ask for straw for the Christ Child's manger, but He didn't bring our presents. It was a hospitality thing. We were told about Santa Claus and told not to spoil it for the other children.

I was told of the man Saint Nicholas and they did entertain my ideas of a man bringing me presents, but they didn't keep the second dream alive for long.

I only believed in Santa when I was a few years old.

I did til I was about 8 or 9?
11/08/2012
I will believe in Santa until he stops bringing me presents.
11/08/2012
nope, we never did the santa thing. I know that the presents were coming from my parents, and why I was getting them.

Yes I did when I was little. My mom blew it for me but my dad tried really hard to keep it alive.

Up until I was eight then my older sister spoiled it for me.

yeah

Yes, when I was little.

My parents tried, but I was a smart kid. I realized very young that "santas" handwriting looked like my parent's writing, and I found the wrapping paper "santa" always used in the closet. hahaha, since my mother was Jewish she then started saying that it was "Hanukkah elves", of course I said "I don't remember a story about elves..." so she made up something ridiculous and it just became a joke.

Jewish, so no, but it's a fun idea.
11/09/2012
What? What do you mean by "did"? Omg...what are you saying?

Are You Implying That Santa Isn't Real? :c

For a short time

Yes! And I still believe in the spirit of Christmas.

Never did believe in Santa. My parents basically taught us the real meaning of Christmas -- Christ's B-day, and that is what we celebrated and still celebrate. I'm glad though, that they didn't try teaching us about some strange man who gives free gifts, but instead taught us that God gives and blesses and we celebrate his Birth.

Santa wasn't really a thing here. My parents didn't say "Oh! Kids, look Santa bought you toys." They bought us Christmas gifts. And we teach our kids what Christmas really is too, so that they don't get caught up thinking it's something that it isn't -- something about taking, taking, taking and not giving, celebrating who gives life to us.

When I was a child of ocurse, I dont really think that any grown person would actually still believe in santa right now.

I was the last to figure out the truth!
11/09/2012
Other. I did, but I figured it out before most kids my age... I don't even remember how old I was.

I use to when I was 12 but then I found the gifts my mom had hidden in the closet that said "from SANTA" T____T

nope

No and I deeply enjoyed ruining it for other children. I'm evil.
11/09/2012
Yes, when I was very young I did.
11/09/2012
I did until I think I was 10 or so. I wish he was real and could bring me stuff now.

We feel that it is possible to understand the true meaning of Christmas and still believe in Santa.
Christmas is about Christ in our house, no doubt. We feel there are ways to combine. Santa is not bigger than Christ, but he is there. Santa doesn't go crazy, but there is a big gift, one Mom and Dad wouldn't get or couldn't afford. And stockings.

I believed fully. I was 9 when I found out the truth, at the lunch table in 4th grade, and in the same lunch period I learned about sex as well. An illuminating day, and one where I cried when I learned about Santa.

Despite how hard my parents tried to convince me Santa was real, I never fully believed it. My mom constantly told me fake things when I was a kid, so I never really believed anything she said. She once told me her belly button had been removed when she gave birth to me (she had a C-section), and that's about how weird the rest of the stuff she told me was. I did know for sure he wasn't real when I woke up one Christmas night and saw my parents putting the gifts "Santa" brought in our stockings.

I did, but I almost wish I hadn't. What an unappreciative brat I was believing Santa and my mom would bring me presents.
