PETS

I've always have pets - from the more traditional dogs, 1 cat, and plentiful goldfish while I was growing up to the less traditional variety of reptiles and amphibians my ex-husband kept as pets and the fancy rats and mice I raised while I lived with him, I've had pretty much everything legal to have in NJ (pet laws are remarkably stringent here). I've been living back on my own well over a year now and last night went out and bought one sweet little rat to keep me company. I normally buy them in pairs so they have a playmate but this was the only one they had that I was interested in so if in a week she starts to seem lonely, I'll go get her a cagemate. Her name is Bowie because her pattern reminds me of the cover of Aladdin Sane.

So what do you guys all have? Dogs? Cats? Spectacled Caimen?

We have doggies. A black lab and a malamute. We have had malamutes for decades and they are good dogs. The Lab is hilarious. She's so funny. We say she and the Malamute are "married" because he "got her" (even though he's fixed) when she went into heat! (and then we had her fixed. She went into heat early so we didn't expect it.)

They lie on the floor, cuddling or just butt touching and they play "Bite" all day. They are SO cute.

I would love to have a kitty. I am really allergic, and I would not breathe if we had a kitty in the house. I love them, though.

We also have a bunny. We had an outdoor bunny and she was very happy outdoors. The rabbit we have now was older when we got him, and he was used to being in doors, so we have to keep him inside. He's very sweet, but damn, he smells! I have cordoned him in the basement. It was just gross when he was in the room next to our dining room. Plus, I am allergic to bunnies, too.

We've had mice (as pets) hamsters, an iguana, frogs, all kinds of lizards, when our older kids were little we had a menagerie of animals.

I can't have kitties either...severe allergy problems. Unfortunately, rat dander is similar to cat, so I am allergic but since they are limited to their cage space and only places I let them roam, it's limited. Plus having only one or two really cuts down as well.

At one point we had three snakes, four fish tanks (from 5 gal up to 40), two birds, two cats, two dogs, two mice and 16 rats. Talk about a zoo!

Now we have two cats and two dogs and I'm allergic to them all. Thank god for Zyrtec.

I take Zyrtec for the rat allergy as well. It does make a big difference!

My ex had over 20 snakes AT ONCE, but he also worked w/ the state DEP and the local wildlife preserves, and did a lot of animal education work.

I'm glad I'm not the only rat person here!

I usually have cats, but my ex-husband got the cat in the divorce so I have only the dog - a Maltese-Poodle named Voldemort, who is the (only) offspring of my parents' dogs Pikachu and Cissy.

There was one point in time (my junior high years) when we had three dogs, one cat, twenty fish (exotic freshwater variety), one turtle, two gerbils, and a couple of huge spiders. I also count my science class' snake because it liked to wrap itself around my wrist at school.

I had a few hamsters, but they've all since passed. Right now I'm just not home enough really to have a pet, it wouldn't be fair to the animal to just sit in a corner all day long

But I would one day like a skunk and a great dane

Two dogs, one puggle-chiweenie (pug+beagle+chihuahua+ dauchshund) named Simba and a mini-Australian shepherd named Icarus. They're the most adorable dogs ever. I also have a betta fish named Rusty.

Growing up, I had dozens of fish, and a collie named Precious. Until recently, I had a hamster named Ellaboo, but she died.

We have a cat (Gus) who is VERY old and like my child. I told my husband that when he does go I am going to need some serious therapy! I got my husband a dog (Chloe) for Christmas last year. She is a collie shepard mix. We rescued her from a shelter. She was found on the streets of PR pregnant. She is the sweetest pup in the world! The cat and dog LOVE each other it is SO cute watching them cuddle. And we have a ferret (Meatball) who is about 3 and we have had him since he was a little Kit. We got him to keep our other ferret (Tong Po) company but a few weeks of getting Meatball Tong died...

I have three cats and one dog. The cats names are: Simba, Kit-Kat and Bella The dogs name is Cassie. Kit-Kat thinks he's a dog/person. He wags his tale when he's happy and he sits on the couch like a person with his arm up on the arm rest. The dog is a big golden retriever, but she's petrified of all the cats.

My boyfriend has a cat too, her name is Summer

I currently have 2 cats, Weasel and Dingo. Weasel is a short-hair tabby that licks all of her hair off (our vet says she has OCD) and Dingo is a Tiffanie flufferbutt who doubles as a Swiffer sweeper. My boyfriend has a cat that is as good as mine, lol. His name is Poe and he's a gorgeous longhaired tabby with big ole green eyes. And yes, I'm allergic to them. I endure the sinus headaches because I just love em all to bits

I have a mini rex house rabbit, she is quite a queen. She owns the place with her little bitchy attitude but I love her the way she is. Soemtimes she lets me cuddle with her but she gets annoyed by my demands sometimes, lol.

Our beloved rescued bunny Charlie died just a few days ago. He lived a longer than normal life, we got him when he was full grown and had him for 8 1/2 years. The life expectancy was to 7 years. We had a dog who was a Beagle. Even with all the training and room to run she was a terrible dog. We found her a good home where the people didn't care where she dug holes and didn't care if she ate the floor inside. That was hard because I really liked her, but she never listened or was nice to women, she only liked men.

One day when the kiddies are a little bigger I want to get a Newfoundland. I grew up around them, and absolutely LOVE them.

I am owned by 1 Pomeranian named Aurora Jane, a demon that poses as a calico cat named Gwen, 4 FireBelly Toads (Caitlyn, Claire, Cadence, Cravan). I still have 2 cats that my parents have "adopted" and won't let me have back at their house. And I would have a million more critters if I had the room and the money! I have shared my life with hamsters, fish galore, snails, hermit crabs, turkeys, turtles, snakes, crawfish, etc... even had a pet leech when I was little named Larry... we were "attached" and my Mom let me keep him in an aquarium!! Pets are AWESOME!!! Personally quite fond of being the Human Kind of Pet too!!
