I've always have pets - from the more traditional dogs, 1 cat, and plentiful goldfish while I was growing up to the less traditional variety of reptiles and amphibians my ex-husband kept as pets and the fancy rats and mice I raised while I lived with him, I've had pretty much everything legal to have in NJ (pet laws are remarkably stringent here). I've been living back on my own well over a year now and last night went out and bought one sweet little rat to keep me company. I normally buy them in pairs so they have a playmate but this was the only one they had that I was interested in so if in a week she starts to seem lonely, I'll go get her a cagemate. Her name is Bowie because her pattern reminds me of the cover of Aladdin Sane.
So what do you guys all have? Dogs? Cats? Spectacled Caimen?

We have doggies. A black lab and a malamute. We have had malamutes for decades and they are good dogs. The Lab is hilarious. She's so funny. We say she and the Malamute are "married" because he "got her" (even though he's fixed) when she went into heat! (and then we had her fixed. She went into heat early so we didn't expect it.)
They lie on the floor, cuddling or just butt touching and they play "Bite" all day. They are SO cute.
I would love to have a kitty. I am really allergic, and I would not breathe if we had a kitty in the house. I love them, though.
We also have a bunny. We had an outdoor bunny and she was very happy outdoors. The rabbit we have now was older when we got him, and he was used to being in doors, so we have to keep him inside. He's very sweet, but damn, he smells! I have cordoned him in the basement. It was just gross when he was in the room next to our dining room. Plus, I am allergic to bunnies, too.
We've had mice (as pets) hamsters, an iguana, frogs, all kinds of lizards, when our older kids were little we had a menagerie of animals.
