my parents will not have any bearing in my wedding at all. they have very conservative tastes so i would be wearing as much material as a nun

I'll bet it was fun! We spent the entire time in White Castle giggling. A year or so later, White Castle had a commercial where an entire wedding party came in. I always wonder if it was us WC based the commercial on.

Ha, after our reception we all went to Denny's in our fancy clothes. I have a few pictures of me in my wedding dress there. It was a blast

My wife bought her cause her parents don't know how to save money and didn't really have any to spend on the wedding. But she's a deal shopper and found one for 300

I paid for my own wedding dress. I did end up paying several hundred dollars for it, but it was the one I really wanted and back then we didn't have nearly as many bills so I was able to splurge a bit.

When my partner and I got married, we payed for most of it on our own. Her parents helped out a bit and so did mine, but we bought our own dresses (Yes, we both wore dresses!). We actually ended up buying super cheap, cream white colored, prom dresses and they were spectacular. It rained for an hour and a half on our wedding day and we totally played and took photos in the rain. It was perfect, and because our dresses weren't expensive, it was not bothersome to get them wet. It was one of my favorite parts of the day.

Lol, nice. There was a brewery I was at last year with a wedding party at it, and I thought that was totally awesome.

I paid for my dress and my husband and I paid fopr our entire wedding and reception then saved up and paid for our honeymoon a couple years later.
I think that if you have family or freinds that want to contribute in some way to your wedding, whether it be buying a dress or supplying different parts to the wedding and/or reception, I think that's wonderful and there isn't any harm in accepting such help as long as you sincerely appreciate it.

My husband and I picked it out and paid for it together about a week after we got engaged. It was actually a really special moment, because I walked out in tears, and he simply said, "Wrap it up." I think we paid $400, and I've managed to wear my dress again twice! We got married on Halloween, so it makes for a good repeat costume.

It was so perfect. It was the beginning of August and so incredibly hot, down south in a well decorated community building on a dusty dirt road. And it just poured. And poured and poured. And we danced in the rain and my eight year old cousin came out with us and we all ran around like crazy people, splashing in puddles. I walked with my cousin down to the river after the rain stopped and it was like something out of a dream. Everything was so green and glistening and perfect. I was standing holding my little cousin's hand, barefoot, on a small overhanging rock, overlooking the water, and this little girl and her mother floated by in a canoe and the kid said: 'Did you get married?'

It was the best wedding for us that I could have possibly imagined.

I'd probably wear something I already have. It would be something nice though. If I ever get married, it would be at city hall.
