I used to lay out in the sun in the summer months to "get a little color," but I've finally made peace with my natural skin color (cocaine white) at age 26. It took me a long time to feel that way, though. What's your preference?
Pale or tan?

Even if I could tan, I wouldn't want to. I just don't like the tanned look.

I like in betweeen. I have olive skin, so if I am completely sunless I look green. Green is not good. My pale is green. So I like a little sun to give a bit of color, not over the top.

I'm pale and stay pale, I've never understood the fuss about tanning.

I don't work on my tan by laying out. Just let nature do its work and spend plenty of time outside doing the things I enjoy.

I like my pale color but in the summer time i tan just a lil so i get just a shade or 2 darker so i dont look pale sometimes i feel im so pale i look sick but thats just my opinion

I spend a lot of time outdoors, so I end up with a tan, but do not sit outside trying to get it

Pale is beautiful! Who wants to look like a leather handbag at 30?

I have a natural olive skin tone so I don't tan much, but I do like some color.

I think they can both be nice, it depends on the person.
12/29/2012
I don't tan at all. I've learned to accept it and embrace my fair skin tone.

I've got a "farmer's tan" face, neck and forearms. Everywhere else is ghostly pale. My preference? For others? I'm certainly not repulsed by pale as me but I guess I'm still under the cultural spell that tan is attractive.
Cognitively though, I know it isn't.

I don't go tanning or lay out in the summer, but I don't do anything to avoid getting a natural tan either. Chances are you'll pick up some color (intentionally or not) by doing everyday things outside.

Even though my skin is tan already in the summer time I will get a lil darker. But it is a nice tan.

I don't tan I burn, so I'll stay pale.
12/29/2012
I would just burn so it's sunscreen all year round for me.
12/29/2012
I'm brown naturally. No need for me to lay out in the sun!
12/29/2012
It really depends. Sometimes I like to be tan but usually I don't really go for the effort. I'm naturally pale.
12/29/2012
i have a year round tan, but i love laying out in the sun just cause it feels good too!
12/29/2012
I'm somewhere in between.
12/29/2012
i am pale. i wear sunscreen all year round. i'm occasionally self conscious about my skin tone, but most times i like it. on other people i like what ever is natural for them. like someone who tans easily and spends a lot of time outside, looks nice to me tan. tan from tanning booth addictions look different and do not appeal to me, not to mention the health risks, and effects on aging.
12/29/2012
I like natural tans.

I'm light colored but I do a ton of outdoor activities and pick up color while I'm outside at the lake, swimming, or gardening. In the winter, I'm very pale, lol.

I usually have some color to me even in the winter months but I love summer months cause even if all I do is go swimming I get really dark but I don't go out of my way to get color. I do love a good glow but I don't fret over it.

I have absolutely no tanning ability. Put tanning oil on me and I burn, peel, then I am a ghost again lol

I sort of unintentionally tan in the warmer weather (I'm the dog walker in our house and he takes a while xD ), but I actually love my naturally pale skin.
About the only tan part of me is my forearms and hands (and only on the upper side 0_o )...no idea why that is but my mom calls it a "farmers tan" but it's been there since the day I was born no matter how much I avoid the sun.

Cat E.
I'm fair skinned so my skin doesn't tan. If my skin did tan I'd still not sunbathe.

Pale is beautiful. I've never seen the attraction of tanning and looking like a roast chicken.
