I live in NJ and if I ever order tea somewhere, it's hot. When I was in Texas awhile back, I ordered tea and the waitress automatically brought me iced tea. I was wondering what people would assume in your area if you asked for tea.
If you order tea to drink in your area, is it hot or cold?

I always order iced tea.

tea is always iced in TX

hm, in my area it is always specified "hot tea" or "iced tea". I don't think a waitress would ever just assume one way or the other!

I never considered just saying "tea". I always say "unsweetened iced tea, no lemon". (Yes, I'm a damned Yankee living in the South.)
Ordering hot tea is "pot of tea".
Ordering hot tea is "pot of tea".

Depends on the weather. In this temperature, I'll order hot tea; and I'll order a nice lemon iced tea when it gets warm.
03/25/2013
In my area, I've always been asked - though most will order a "cup" of hot tea and a "glass" of iced tea.
03/25/2013
Usually it's iced, but it's all about where I'm getting it and sometimes the season, if I just say tea or a cup of tea
03/25/2013
I only ever order it in Chinese restaurants and it's always hot.
03/25/2013
"Tea" here usually means hot tea and you have to specify iced tea if that's what you want.
03/26/2013
hot
03/26/2013
I think the waitress would ask...and not assume one way or the other!

I posted other, because technically "my area" meaning "my home" would bring you hot tea without question. Where I am now, however, I would definitely wind up with sweet iced tea.

Always cold, unless i have a sore throat then hot tea.
03/26/2013
Hot unless you specifically say iced tea.
03/26/2013
I'm an ice tea junkie!

It really depends. When I go to a Chinese restaurant I like it iced, at a donut or similar shop I like it hot.
03/26/2013
If I want cold tea, I order it iced.
03/26/2013
You automatically get iced tea here (in TN).
03/26/2013
I say cup of tea, which usually means hot tea. I would specify iced tea if I wanted it cold.
03/26/2013
Oops I voted for hot. I meant cold. I think in my area it would be cold.
03/26/2013
If I order tea at a restaurant it's cold. Hot tea is typically only used during the winter to help fight off a sore throat.
03/26/2013
In Indiana its mainly Iced Tea unless you order hot tea and then you will probably get some strange looks lol
03/26/2013
In FL, everywhere I go, it's usually cold tea. I kind of prefer it that way, though.

Tea is usually hot when I order it, but I'm not really from a warm area.

If you order tea most of the waitresses will ask Hot or cold. Most often though we order it is a cup of hot tea or a glass of iced tea.
03/26/2013
Hot tea.
03/26/2013
I don't really do hot tea. I always occupy that space with coffee. I love a good iced tea though!
