From age 7 until age 17 I suffered pretty badly from allergies. I was pretty much unable to breath through my nose at all for ten years straight. I used over-the-counter stuff on occasion, but I didn't want to be taking medication every day.
When I was a junior in high school, my allergies suddenly started to lessen. But it was when I went to college and moved away from the beach that they almost completely went away. It seems that my allergies are tied to humidity, so as long as I stay where the humidity is low (southern California, so it's extremely low if you're more than ten miles from the beach) then I don't have any problems at all. But when it's rainy for more than a few days, or if I visit my mom for more than a few days, then I start sneezing and within 3 days at most my nose is completely stuffed up.
