Based on your description, it sounds like an infection. Polysporin is a topical antibiotic drop for eye infections.

It's basically like bacitracin, but formulated for the eye. However, to be honest I'm not sure if you can get something like it OTC. If it is available OTC, you should be able to get it from any drug store. If it is not OTC, then you would need a prescription.

I agree with Kindred on the infection - especially since the discharge you're describing sounds like puss, but it could still be conjunctivitis (pink eye) or an infection caused by something in your eye. If OTC drops don't clear it up (if OTC antibiotic eye drops are available...they may be Rx only), you might want to see a doctor to be sure it's not something that will get worse and cause damage.

Something similar happened when one of my kids was younger, and rather than an infection, it was a blocked tear duct. It's probably not what your problem is, but if it is, it's a really easy fix. Just take your index finger and firmly and push from the edge of your nose where it meets the face to the inner corner of your eye. Do this several times a day. If it is a blocked tear duct, this should clear up the problem within a couple days.

If medicated drops are not available OTC, you can try frequent flushing with just saline. However, as Tori said, if it is something that persists, you should see a doctor. Also, if there is pain, you should see a doctor. That could indicate a more serious problem and not just a simple infection. Additionally, not all infections can be cleared with Polysporin.

You can get that OTC here at any place with a pharmacy (walmart has a pharmacy most of the time)

Warm compresses can help also.
It is contagious so you will want to make sure no one else uses your towel, facecloth, pillow. And change them daily. Wash your hands often so that it does not get in the other eye.
If the Polysporin does not seem to be helping you will need to go to the doctor for an Rx for something stronger.
(can you tell I have dealt with this before? LOL)

Yes, saline eyedrops. While it's not ideal, simple frequent flushing will help to reduce the amount of bacteria if it is an infection and hopefully allow your body to clear the infection itself. It should also help soothe your eye. Again, this isn't ideal, but it might help.

It's not going to instantly relieve it. Try to clean off as much of the discharge and crust as possible. Then every few hours flush out your eye with the saline drops. If the eye is red and inflamed, a cold compress can help. If after 2-3 days there is no real improvement, or if symptoms get worse, definitely see a doctor.

Strongly suggest that you make a trip to an ER at a nearby hosp. Sounds as if it getting worse, not a good idea to let it go.
If you don't have any $$ or insurance, they will take care of you....
Good luck!! Please don't neglect your eye.

If you don't have insurance and you don't have the money, there are programs virtually everywhere in the US (I found one for Illusional in TX a while back) that provide you with free care. Depending on the area, they range from free clinics to hospital systems that have a rotation of doctors that do what is called charity care, which is for low income patients.

My mom does social work and she's taught me that there are always services (medical or otherwise) available to those who need them - you just have to know how to find them.

Please don't do that!! Fennel contains components relaxing to the muscles of the colon, intestinal walls, and uterus. That does not mean it will be good for your eye, since it's not a spasmodic/muscular issue. There's a much better chance of it irritating things further.

It might just be a stye in your eye, which is just a clogged duct or pore. Is it swollen and very sore around the area? If so you can draw the dirt/whatever out by dilating the pore. Put a warm tea bag on your (closed!) eye until the bag cools. You can do this a couple of times a day and it should drain by itself in time. I'd be careful about trying to force out whatever is clogging it because the eye is sensitive and if you slip you can really hurt yourself!

Viral pink eye clears up on its own after several days. The warm compresses others recommended above are good to ease the discomfort. Bacterial pink eye also clears up on its own, but usually a physician will prescribe eye drops to get rid of it faster. Allergic pink eye tends to clear up when the allergen is gone. Your sore throat would suggest it is viral, but then, I'm no physician.

If you go to ER not urgent care they are not allowed to refuse you treatment as far as I know. Go to the doctor.
Please don't put anything in your eye that isn't designed for it. Like tea. That's just a horrible idea. Try taking some tylenol or something if it hurts. Drinking the tea may help your sore throat.
