However, the quality of an external one is usually better (if you buy a good one), because the built-in cameras are the mid-range or low-end types. And if something gets wrong with the external one, you can always buy a new one... less

I pretty much only use my web cam to show other people the weird things my cat does, like when he was kneading and licking this furry blanket I have. I only have a web cam because I won it, I don't think I'd bother buying one at all.

I've had a built in cam in my last three laptops and never used them for a thing beyond once with the first one - to show my sister in another state our new lizard, lol.
