I didn't realize arms were hairy enough to shave? I am far more worried about facial hair! If I were you I wouldn't worry about hair on your arms.
Is shaving one's arms a social convention?

I shave my arms and I'm not ashamed!! lol. I'm Italian, and have very dark hair on my arms and legs unless I shave. No way am I going around looking like a monkey.

I didn't know it was that common either. For some crazy reason, I was extremely self conscious about my arm hair (kinda funny, I know lol) when I was a kid. I remember when I was in the 4th grade, I'd try to cover my arms with my notebook if I didn't have a jacket! Ha. I don't know why I was so bothered by it. It's not like I had a lot of arm hair. So I shaved them at that young age and never stopped! I remember when I got in high school I brushed up against a guy and felt his prickly arm hairs and it hit me that I was not the only one in the hairless arm club! Lol. I said "You shave your arms too, don't you?" Bahaha! He admitted to it and after that I wasn't so ashamed for people to know. I was very secretive about it. I didn't like people rubbing or touching my arms because they would feel pricklies and know I shaved. My mom figured it out as soon as I done it and my 4th grade class was working on a science experiment where we had to come up with our own experiment and my mom said that for mine, I could shave one arm and not the other and document how fast it grows or something like that. I was not amused! Lol. It doesn't bother me at all now and I ended up having a girl friend who took up arm shaving too! LOL.

I done it because it made me uncomfortable. Now I do it because well, when you've been shaving since 4th grade, it grows back longer! I don't do it every single day now like I used to though. I just prefer no hair.

I've removed my arm hairs before, but it's not very often. Maybe three times in my life, just out of boredom and curiosity.
Too much of a hassle really.

I don't know how popular/frequent it is among whom. All I know is I shave my arms.

I only know one woman who does.

Sometimes when we are slow at the spa I work at I will wax them out of boredom lol
Other than that I leave the hair most of the time, but I will wax it off (I never shave it) if I have a special event to go to like a wedding or something. I don't have a ton of arm hair, but I have very dark hair and very pale skin so I feel like it looks better without hair. I don't really keep up with it though.

A whole bunch of women in my family remove their arm hair, but I didn't inherit the family arm hair. Hoorah.
As for the women at your work, some portion of them may be naturally smooth. I know a few people who have almost no hair on their arms. If I didn't know better, I'd think they'd had it removed.

I've heard of some women bleaching their arm hair if it's too dark, but never shaving it.
The thought of arm-stubble sounds less pleasant to me than a little hair.

Actually this is a complete myth. No hair will ever grow back thicker because you have shaved it. It's merely slightly more noticeable when it immediately grows back, because you've cut the hair shaft at its widest point.

Yes, some of them (many of them) might be naturally smooth.... I just heard a group of several women talking about shaving their arms, then I started looking around and couldn't find anybody WITH arm hair. Which made me paranoid that everybody was staring at mine. lol.

I have done that before, but I don't continue to. There really is not much hair on my arms, so there is no point.

No never heard of this

I don't shave my arms, and I don't currently know anyone who does.
I knew one girl in high school who had a problem with abnormally dark and thick hair on her arms. I think she got electrolysis for it...

Not a woman, but I shave my arms because I like how they feel shaven.
I think for women it depends, because I know a lot that shave their arms and others that don't bother. But either way I don't care, hair is natural anyway

My arm hair is so thin I don't have to remove it. It does not bother me.

i dont think most women shave their hair may be light though

I know many women who shave and those who don't have thin barely there hairs.

I don't shave my arms at all. The hair there is not especially thick or noticeable, though. I kind of like the slightly fuzzy feeling.

I cut the hair sometimes with scissors , but I don't usually shave my arms because it makes them prickly... so since I'm blonde, I don't usually bother with it that much

I find hairless arms creepy and I don't shave mine. I did it once when I was a freshman in high school as an experiment, but I did not find it an attractive look.
05/07/2012
I do because I prefer it that way. I know women that don't and I don't have a problem with it.
05/07/2012
I've never shaved mine. My arm hair is fairly light brown and I have sort of an olive complexion, so it blends in pretty well. My husband REALLY loves hair and gets disappointed when I shave my underarms, legs, or bikini line, so I've let it grow out more often since I've been with him. I don't really like having hairy legs or a scary bikini line, so it's difficult, but I know how much he likes it, so I try and hold out as long as I can. LOL! If I shaved my arm hair, I think he would be really upset!

im too hairy i trim it i feel cleaner and bug like flys dont get stuck

I shave my arms because I'm really pale and have black hair. So.... yeah xD
