I don't have cats, I'm more of a dog person

I don't have a cat, but if I did, it'd be an indoor cat. I'd always be afraid of it wandering off and never coming back if I let it outdoors. My dad's cat is only let out into the yard, which is fenced in really well. The one time that cat got out, she was gone for a week, and is now afraid to leave the yard.

When I had a cat years ago, it was an indoor only cat. I hate my neighbors' outdoor cats. They dig in my vegetable garden, poop in my yard, leave presents (read: dead animals) all over the place, get into fights in my yard, and recently Husband found one of them was sleeping in his vintage convertible project car. When he covered it so it wouldn't get in, it repaid him by peeing on his car cover. Having to deal with issues caused by other people's pets puts us in a very bad mood. Our philosophy is this: if your cat isn't doing its business (bringing presents, pooping, etc.) on YOUR property, then it's doing it on SOMEONE ELSE'S. When I personally have to deal with it (think of me screaming at my kids, "That's NOT a rock! Put it DOWN and go wash!" It's happened more than once), I find it inconsiderate. Oh, and if you ascribe to the "But they always bury it," argument, which is what my neighbor told me, guess what? They don't.

I don't have a cat but I do have dogs. I have house dogs and kennel dogs and I never let them run. I live in the middle of the woods and I'm always worried about them making it to a road if they got loose.

I keep mine indoors for the same reasons. Also, I'm worried about the various diseases and such they can come across outside.

I have an indoor cat. We live on a busy highway, and I'd worry about her getting hit by a car.

Indoor cat so it doesn't use my neighbor's flower garden as a litter box.

I'm currently enjoying a rare period of catlessness, but when we get another one, it will live indoors, for its own protection as well as the protection of all the critters in the neighborhood.

I was shocked to learn that cats in the US kill BILLIONS of animals each year, pushing many species to extinction. link

There are a lot of reasons, but really I just like to have my cat with me more.

Well, my reasoning is I adopted it and took responsibility for it. I can't reason with the little jerk [I love him, really] to stay out of trouble, so he's staying in the house. LOL.

No, but he's my responsibility and I'd hate for anything to happen to him.

Indoor cat because of safety issues and they live a lot longer than outdoor cats.
