The concept of falling asleep within minutes is alien to me. Hours and hours ...

It usually takes me between 10-15 minutes to fall asleep. Some nights though I have terrible insomnia.

I remember when I could hit the bed and fall asleep within 5 minutes. Those days are long gone...

It depends on a lot of factors. Depends on what's going through my mind, how tired I am from the rest of the day, or if I've worked out that day.

I've noticed lately since I've started to work out more, that I fall asleep a lot faster and wake up feeling a lot better.

99% of the time it can take hours for me to actually get to sleep. The last few nights though have been amazing. I've fallen asleep within a half hour of laying down. I'm hoping it stays this way!

I live with chronic pain and some brain damage. I take sleep meds and pain meds, and even with those, it takes me forever to get to sleep unless I'm dead tired.

Usually I'll zonk out within five minutes, occasionally it takes me over twenty minutes to finally fall asleep.

I am usually asleep within 5-10 minutes. I wait until I am soooo tired before I try it or I will be awake most of the night.

When I lay down finally it is minutes, but that's because I take meds to help with my insomnia

I've been looking for an herbal tea or something else that helps with the sleep. I know that Melantonin works for some. Anyone use that? Does it help?

Chamomile is relaxing -shrug- the smell of it also is rather calming. that's the only way most herbal teas would work as a sleep aid.

I have to be mentally exhausted to fall asleep within minutes or even an hour. Doesn't matter how much physical work or exercise I've done or how tired my body is, my brain doesn't shut off until I've exhausted it. It's left me with many sleepless nights - or napping for three hours and going another extended amount of time without.

Never bothered my ability to function though... except made me jittery and chatty.

My grandmother used to buy an herbal tea that was for help with sleeping. They no longer sell it. I actually think it worked when we used it.

Usually within 10-15 minutes unless I've drank coffee or am anxious about something.

It really depends. When I was young I always had a hard time falling asleep, it would take me hours. When I started working a "9-5" type job I went to bed at the same time every night b/c I had to get up early. After the first few weeks I found that I was falling asleep within 5 minutes of laying down.
Now that I don't have such a strict schedule, I'm finding that it's taking me a longer time to fall asleep. About 30 min to an hour.

Hey, the brain damage is not my fault and it isn't slowing me down much. I cut out caffeine mostly, so that helps some. I am going to try a new sleep med soon, I hope.

What can I say? You just make the best life that you can with the hand you're dealt. If life were a game of Texas Hold Em, I wasn't dealt the deuce-seven off suit, but some days it feels like it's close. I deal anyway.
