Both of the first two options involve using a computer: one of the distinctions is using a web-based email vs. using a dedicated email client.

I read email on both my smartphone and the internet, whichever one is more accessible at the time.

I've noticed that people who use phones for email tend to write messages as if they were texting, rather than compose paragraphs and have extended conversations.
