To any Troma fans, you should see if you can find a copy of Teenage Caveman.
I loved the oldschool horror movies, I really did, they used to play them at 2AM on Fridays and Saturdays on a channel that I barely got and I would stay up almost every weekend to watch them.
I have to say though, I REALLY REALLY hate most of the newer horror movies. They strive so hard to make everything as believable and realistic as they can and by the time that they are over I have this sick, sick feeling that I might as well be actually witnessing actual torture and murder. As they say in Shortbus, voyeurism is participation.
A horror movie is great when you can separate yourself from it, laugh at the cheesiness and how off the death and dismemberment is. What is being produced nowadays just scares the shit out of me. Thinking about what kind of shit will result from all those people being able to watch it and walk away feeling and thinking nothing about it.
