Yes. I hate it.
Have you experienced a rainstorm with winds so bad that NO umbrella is of any use?

Not here in CA - but on a trip to Baton Rouge I was tuck in a rain so hard that I could not see any of the cars around me on the freeway. Here you are going 70 MPH then you can't see! Didn't know whether to stop or keep going - I have no idea how there wasn't a huge pileup - but somehow I got through it safely!

Not often, but yes. I'm guessing your rain and wind is due to the hurricane? So sorry to hear about that. The rough winds scare me so badly. I hope you all stay safe! We were in Panama all last week and left Friday. While there, people were preparing for the hurricane though and one night the winds and lightening got so bad that I kind of flipped out a little. There were some men fishing on a pier with us who were talking about everyone having to board up their houses and then we talked to a man who was doing work on our hotel that said "a category one hurricane, that's nothing. Nothing at all for us." And I was like WHAAAAt?! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! I'm scared and I won't even be near the hurricane!

That is the kind of Florida rain we are having this morning. Regular umbrellas rip apart. Windproof ones (vented), simply pull out of your hands and fly away. I saw a dozen umbrellas flying down one main street...no kidding. Rain is moving SIDEWAYS

Yep, I have rode out MANY hurricanes, including Katrina. Umbrellas become projectile weapons in a hurricane, lol!!

Makes me miss Florida. ::sigh::

Yes, many times. The absolute worse were the hurricanes that passed closely by, of course.

a few times, but I never use an umbrella anyways.

I'm also in Florida, so yeah.
I always laugh when I see people freak out about hurricanes and the like. Granted, I know they can get bad (shoot, we just passed the 20th anniversary of Andrew and I remember it like it was just yesterday!), but for the most part all the storms we get are just sort of "meh". They're more of an excuse to get out of work and party than they are a threat.
