One summer my partner locked her keys in the car twice so I had to come and unlock it for her. I've only locked my keys in the car once, and luckily a friend of mine was able to deliver a spare set to me (even though it was a bit of a drive). But definitely something I try and avoid. Not fun!
Have you ever locked your keys in your vehicle?

Well, I guess you can imagine what inspired me to ask this question! Ha. Ha.
My kind, precious Lovie locked the keys in his truck earlier. No, this is not the first time he's done that! Ha Ha. He once locked the keys in his truck a few years ago when we first started seeing each other. Me, him and my twin sister were stuck in a parking lot in 100 degree heat for hours waiting on a lock smith! Talk about a heat stroke! That taught us to learn other methods of getting the keys out of a locked vehicle--the hanger method! It also taught me to ask him "do you have the keys?" every time we get out of the car. I've asked him that question since that day he locked us out 5 years ago! Unfortunately, I wasn't with him when he locked them in the truck earlier tonight. Thankfully though, we were home so it wasn't a huge deal.
He ended up getting it open with the hanger method Thank God, I've never ever locked my keys in my car! That's probably partly thanks to seeing him do it, I pay close attention. I was only a teen when we first started seeing each other so I was able to learn early to check for your keys before locking doors! Lol. I hope and pray I don't end up locking myself out after bragging now.
So, have you guys ever done this? If so, how did you get back into your vehicle? Did you call a lock smith, use the hanger (or some other) method? Have a spare key to save you? I'd love to hear ya'll's experiences! less

I did it once, but, there's a story, and it was kind of unavoidable.
I was wearing a jacket, and I had the keys in the pocket and I took the jacket off and put it back in the car.
We called a locksmith because we were at my dad's physical therapy place. I had the only key at the time.
Now, though, we both carry keys most of the time. I sometimes intentionally lock my keys in the car because they're kinda bulky and I don't like to carry them in my pocket. When I have my bag, I put the keys inside of my bag before I even leave the car--our car doesn't have an alarm system, etc, not even automatic locks.

I can't recall ever locking my keys in the car. Thank God for spare keys though if this were ever to happen.

I've done it so many times it's unreal. I even locked my keys in my car while it was running before. I ended up blocking my street and had to call the cops for them to help me get back in. I ended up waiting an hour for someone to come help and was ridiculously late for work. I think that was the last time I ever did it.

Locked my keys in the car while it was running. Lucky for me, a cop was near by with a slim jim!

I have locked my keys in the car so many times that I now keep a spare in my purse for such occasions. I too have locked the keys in while the car was running!

Not proud of it, but I had to check several choices. 8 years of college, and drinking a beer or two leads to a little forgetfullness at times. There were other things on my mind back then. Within the last 20 years, I haven't locked my keys in the car though, so I did get better after college.

Once in college, I locked my keys in the car. I called my roommate to come pick me up, but before she got there, I realized the back door was unlocked

Sadly, I have locked my keys in every car I have ever owned save two...a van I once owned for a year and a half and my current car. The only reason I haven't made this mistake with the latter of the two is thanks to having a smart key. I'm sure I would have if I didn't. It's a thing for me.

Thankfully I have never had to call a locksmith. I've been lucky enough to either have a copy with someone else or have someone able to open it with a hanger. I was so bad about it, my then boyfriend started keeping a hanger in his trunk knowing sooner or later I would call. It's just the way my brain works, or doesn't.

I've locked mine in the car before, but I had a spare taped up in the wires under my trunk for just such an emergency.

For some reason, I always locked myself out of my car while I was in college. But not before or after that time.

I have done this somewhere between 5 and 20 times..

I locked my keys in my work truck once. THe boss had to call a lock smith to come and get them out for me. It kind of sucked, made me late to my appointments. But that was the only time. My cars have a lock on the key, so I need the key in my hands to lock the car.

I'd love to hear ya'll's experiences! less
