I've taken it once when a condom broke with a partner. I don't know if the pill made me sick to my stomach or just the thought of the condom breaking.
Have you ever had to take Plan B?

No, it doesn't effect hormone nor sperm production, he still makes sperm, it simply doesn't get into the semen and gets absorbed by the body. It isn't like castration in ANY way. The testes (balls) are still there and functional, the only thing is the little tubes (with an incision so small you can barely see it) are cut to prevent sperm from getting into the semen.

My boyfriend mentioned having one after we had a couple of kids, but I was thinking he wouldn't be attracted to me again or something.

If your partner cannot accept responsibility for the actions you two choose to engage in (no precaution is 100%) and the subsequent results, then maybe he's not the right person. A real man would step up and take responsibility. However, you should probably look to using a method of contraception besides just condoms. Pills, Nuva Ring, the implant, Mirena... there are lots of options.
But no, I never had to take it because I've never had sex without both condom and pill when I wasn't actively trying to get pregnant. Now my tubes are tied. less

Ive taken it once. I thought I had taken my birth control that day, got busy with my partner, and BEHOLD I notice I have an extra pill the next day. (to say the least, after that I quite pills and got on the Nuva Ring)
Ran out and got Plan B. I have no horror story about how terrible it was. It kicked in a day or so after I took it, felt like my regular period, my hormones weren't terrible whacked after words (though, I did have a minor pimple break out. Thats about it) and I still have a regular period flow the flowing month.

:O! How much does PP charge for Nuva Ring? I recently lost my health insurance but my presciption is good for the rest of the year. For ONE month its costing me $80 for ONE ring. So if I can get my exact birth control (Nuva Rings has given me excellent result with little to no side effects, I love it) at a lesser price somewhere else, that would be peachy!

At most PP clinics they rate the pricing on a sliding scale, depending on what you make or what you can afford. The exams are usually paid for by a donation. That's how my girls do it, but I haven't asked them what they pay. I know it's less than $80.00.

My hubby had a vasectomy & it took almost 6 months for him to become "fully sterile"! We thought something was wrong when the 4th sperm test said there were still sperm present, but his Doctor told us that the Vas tubes can take up to a year to expell all the sperm! Other than it being pretty painful & sore for a while, he hasn't changed at all since he had it done & it has been almost a year.

It has no "effect" on the man other than to block the path of sperm. They still make sperm, but they are absorbed by the body (which happens anyway, most men make more sperm then they ejaculate anyway) It doesn't cause any permanent change that could effect their psyche.
They still ejaculate semen, it just contains no semen after the vas deferens are flushed, which can take from a few days to a few weeks. The guy will go for two or three sperm tests, weeks after the procedure to make sure no little guys are getting through.

No, but a strong period can. You have IBS, so it's probably that and not connected to the Plan B.

You may also get an other period when you period was originally due. Your cycle should go back to normal after a month or so.

Hey it happens. It's so annoying that people get so stuck up that they never have such an occurrence. I don't have sex often enough to go on the pill nor do I really need it since condoms are safe enough for me. But one leaky condom makes your heart race.
I had to take Plan B over the summer and I actually didn't experience any of the side effects of it, but its super pricey and def not an alternative to a condom. The Plan B works extremely well. I believe most hospitals give rape victims Plan B even when the perp wears a condom.

I have not used it yet myself, but my sister has taken it many times. She's warned me about how sick she felt after taking it too.
What strikes me is that your boyfriend would be pissed. I don't like that he might be trying to make you feel badly for something you both engaged in!
If it were me, I'd prefer a more goal-oriented, supportive response. Like, okay, this happened, no point in crying or fussing over spilled milk, we've got to find some paper towels to clean it up now.

Yes.
We had sex with a condom, but we noticed some fluids on our legs and knees when we were done. I just looked at him and said, "is that you or me?" We both kind of freaked out and even filled up the condom with water to see if it leaked. It didn't leaked, but we didn't want to take any chances. We got dressed and went back to the 24-hour drugstore near my house, which is where we bought the condoms about an hour earlier in the evening. heh. I accidentally forgot my ID in the car, so my boyfriend used his. The pharmacist said to me, "it's most effective in the first 72 hours after unprotected sex." I wanted to tell him, "don't worry, it hasn't even been 15 minutes."
I think it was about $60. I didn't have any side effects, and I didn't end up pregnant

I haven't taken it, but reading through this thread has reminded me how screwed up our medical care system is. None of us should have to stress over having money for birth control.
03/13/2011
I had to take it many years ago because of condom failure, only it wasn't available OTC back then. I had to go to THREE different places before I found somebody who would write me a prescription for it. The first doctor I went to thought I was asking for RU486 and told me that pill wasn't legal in this country (it wasn't at that time). I explained that I wanted the "morning after pill" and he had no clue what I was talking about. Stupid quack.
03/13/2011
I took it. It was $50 or $60, but it was definitely worth the peace of mind. I started spotting a bit after a week or two, and called my doctor and they said that was completely normal. I got my period a week earlier than scheduled, but I have since been completely regular. I had no negative side effects unless you count the spotting and some breast tenderness. Overall, I'm very glad I took it.
Also, it's awesome that your dad is getting it for you. The fact that you're open enough with him to tell him something like this is really impressive. I wish my parents were more understanding.
Finally, I realize it's been a week since you took it now, so hopefully you're feeling fine.

Also, just to confirm something I saw you write about, my period was redder and mucus-y the first month or two after taking it. I'm not sure what that's caused by, but honestly, I was just so glad I was getting my period that I didn't care what it looked like.
