Have you ever had to take Plan B?

Contributor: Taylor Von Taylor Von
I have been dealing with PP since I'm having a hard time getting a BC that will work for me. I was even approved for a type of insurance I didn't even know was available and I can't get title 10 or medicad but got approved for there insurance. It has helped alot and the birthcontrol they give you only pay a donation instead of a price, basically make your own price.

Fortunately for me my girlfriend doesn't have that ability.

I believe from what I researched a while ago for 'best results' take less then 72 hours, it still can help after that time line but the % of working goes down.

The chance of not becoming pregnant is pretty high. Take is as directed. No one can say for sure.

Usually, if you were actually about to ovulate when you take the Plan B, you will get a period (with no ovulation) in about 2 to 3 days. If you missed ovulation (which is also very good) then you'll get your period on your regular day. Although some women will bleed 2 to 3 days after they take it, no matter what.

You are doing the responsible thing.

Good job!

There's no information on 19 hours, but if taken within 24 hours of unprotected sex, it has about a 95% effectiveness rate.

Amen. If he's gonna be PISSED off, fuck him.
And not literally.

My boyfriend and I are both aware of the "birds and the bees" and he's anti-abortion and would wanna keep it. However, we use two forms of birth control when possible.

And a good thing to remember is Plan B and it's alternatives are NOT an abortion. It's actually one drug less than the BC pill. What the drug does is to prevent ovulation and may make the uterus hostile to implantation.

The uterus is actually in state, similar to what Plan B does, for months after childbirth, particularly if you are breastfeeding. Natures birth control. And about the same pregnancy prevention rate as Plan B.

well I had my period last week.

also,I do not like taking andy kind of prescritptions I like to go the natural way...as I have ibs. I am one of those people who like usda organic stuff when I can get it and don't eat candy or junk, well except sometimes baked chips but I believe theres a natural solution to things if you do enough research you can find it,like for example ibs I don't take prescriptions for it and when I did actually felt worse medications all, except tylenol are ok with me. When I am sick Its all I will every take, and only if I really need it. I still may look into birth control pills..at the same time I will have a ton of trouble being able to find a ride there its way to far to walk..but I may be able to arrange it.

ANyway, how could I not do the responsible think lol I'm ill and make less than 1,00 a month. If anything should happen I will be ok though. I live at my dad's he makes good money I think I'm on his insurance until i'm 25? My boyfriend would help me he could move in with me.

He would help me though. belive it or not he likes kids.

My guy doesn't want a kid either, but he wouldn't be pissed off. We both understand the risks of having sex.

All I have to say is thank God for vasectomies

My boyfriend couldn't get me pregnant even if he wanted to. It's a huge weight lifted off to not even have to think about the possibility anymore.

Girl! I'm singing your praises for tubal ligation!

AND? Since I have inordinately heavy periods, I'm talking to my OB/Gyn about ablation. I cannot handle another 20 years of periods the way they've been this past year.

Tori, I heard vasectomies make men all weird and wonky.
That isn't true, right? Like does it change them?

Not with my man. He didn't get weird or wonky at all. A bit cranky the week after the procedure but all good now.

I took it once or twice. Once was bcs the condom split and the other time he came inside me and I had missed a few days when I was taking the pill and I didn't want to risk it.

I hated it! My hormones were out of wack for a while after, it really sucked.

No. All that happens is the vas deferens is cut and then sealed. It's the little tube (one on each testicle) that carry sperm (not semen, just the sperm) from the testes to the penis.

It has no "effect" on the man other than to block the path of sperm. They still make sperm, but they are absorbed by the body (which happens anyway, most men make more sperm then they ejaculate anyway) It doesn't cause any permanent change that could effect their psyche.

They still ejaculate semen, it just contains no semen after the vas deferens are flushed, which can take from a few days to a few weeks. The guy will go for two or three sperm tests, weeks after the procedure to make sure no little guys are getting through.

It doesn't change them at all.

Your hormones were probably out of whack because you were already on the Pill. Then add the Plan B (which is like a large dose of the progestin part of the Pill) and you may feel funny for a few days. I am really sensitive to hormones and not presently on the Pill and I had no side effects to Plan B. I was pleasantly surprised.

Oh somebody told me it makes the man like totally femme and stuff, and he no longer wants sex.

I took it one time, it was around $50 and I didn't experience any of the side effects. I usually am someone who gets nauseous pretty easily so I was surprised. However, my period was extra heavy at the end of that month when I got it and my cramps were pretty bad too.

I took Plan B quite a while ago. I was younger then and I made the situation out to be a bigger deal than it probably actually was. I paid 80$ for it. I could afford it but even at the time I knew I shouldn't have paid that much for a pill I wasn't completely sure I needed.

No, it doesn't effect hormone nor sperm production, he still makes sperm, it simply doesn't get into the semen and gets absorbed by the body. It isn't like castration in ANY way. The testes (balls) are still there and functional, the only thing is the little tubes (with an incision so small you can barely see it) are cut to prevent sperm from getting into the semen.

The testosterone levels of a man who has has a vasectomy are exactly the same as man who has not had one.

The thing about Plan B is that you NEVER really know if you "needed it" or not. As it prevents ovulation, you never really know if you "really needed it" at the time you took it. You took it as a preventative and as you didn't get pregnant, it worked out.

No one is ever really sure if the drug actually prevented a pregnancy or not. It does NOT cause abortion, it can't stop a pregnancy already in progress. If you take it BEFORE pregnancy has a chance to occur, and it works you never really know If you would have ovulated while there were live sperm in your reproductive tract at the time or not. So, you never really know.

Better to be safe than sorry.

It doesn't change a man's hormones so it won't make men more feminine. My mother did tell me though that after my dad's vasectomy he had less interest in sex. But for him it was the warped view that if you kept your wife pregnant she wouldn't leave you.
