Something I noticed yesterday while driving around with my fiance, I almost always seem to end up putting my feet on the dashboard if I'm not driving. I'm not sure why, although I always have a hard time letting my feet just sit still and dangle towards the ground (even as I write this I'm sitting cross-legged in a computer chair), so maybe that's where it comes from. I think the only time I don't put my feet up is when my shoes are wet/dirty. What about the rest of you?
Feet on the dashboard

In our older cars we would do it, but our current cars have passenger air bags. Just imagine if there was a accident and the air bag went off. We just don't feel the risk is worth it.

I do this in the summertime on car trips when I'm a passenger and an just slip my flip flops or sandals off.

I chose Other, although I should've chosen the 3rd option.. Oops! During the summer, I usually have my feet up on the dash unless my man is driving particularly aggressive for whatever reason. I don't put my shoes on the dash though, kinda gross in my opinion...
During the winter, my feet get way too cold to slip my shoes off and put my feet on the dash.. they're usually stuck up under the floor vents, trying to thaw!

It depends how long we're in the car. If it's a short trip, then I don't, but on long car trips one foot of the other ends up there

I have put my feet up on the dashboard before, but it seems to be really annoying to almost everyone I know, so I usually just sit cross-legged or with one leg tucked under me.

It's just comfy. I do it a lot. Mostly on roadtrips. But I do it when my friends are driving too.
08/30/2010
I've done it a couple of times but I don't anymore.

Not really comfortable for me

For some reason, putting my feet up on the dashboard, even if I'm not driving, seems dangerous to me. It's as though I expect to need to jump out the passenger side door at any moment or brace myself for some unforeseen collision. I realize that sounds really silly, but that's my thought process

If mine aren't on the dash, they're curled up in the seat with me. I hate having my feet dangle.

I don't have a thing about the dash but I have a skill in being able to make bear paw prints with my toes so I if I'm barefoot the windshield gets covered in toe prints, but with shoes not normaly, platform heels don't fit up there that well.

Overall my feet are rarely on the floor, anywhere. At my desk, I will pull out a drawer for my feet or lean back and put them on the desk.

I've never put my feet on the dash, and to be honest would never allow anyone in our vehicles to do so. *shrug* But honestly, to each their own!

I used to like doing this when I was younger, and thinner, and cars were bigger. Now, the dash os all curved and molded, and it's just not the same. I remember my one car had a huge bench seat in the front, and it felt like I was driving while on a couch. So comfy.

One of my partners has a strong foot appreciation so he loves it when I display my feet for him. The other likes seeing me spread out in the seat (I'm short so I have to stretch my legs to the dashboard) but in all reality I just feel more comfortable.

I have short legs and they hurt a lot (fibromyalgia.) So, I can't sit with my feet dangling. I put my feet on the dash board in the car, and it drives My Man crazy "If we get into an accident you'll be a paraplegic." Whatever he means by that. So, then I usually just cross my legs, while sitting in the passenger seat.
When I'm in a restaurant, I have to take off my shoes and either sit cross legged or sit on my feet. Same in any chair. I don't like my feet dangling.

I like just sitting cross-legged for a change in the passenger seat. I think it's dangerous to ride with your feet on the dashboard. Airbags, as it was mentioned earlier, could deploy improperly and cause harm, and if you're not in a car with airbags, your feet/legs might get jammed against/through the windshield if you crash. Doesn't sound fun to me. If I'm on a long trip, I might stretch my legs, which would get them up above the dash for a moment, but I don't want them resting there.
08/31/2010
Nope, don't do it. I know of people who do, though. As long as it's not the person driving doing it, I don't really care. heh

You sound like My Man. I know it might be dangerous, but I do it anyway. Danger, that's my middle name.....

I also hate when my thighs sweat and like to air them over the air conditioning vent. So, my feet are on the dashboard. Or in the winter heat my feet on the heater. Oh, he LOVES driving with me.

I generally put mine up in the summer because my feet are in sandals so I just slip them off and put them on the dash. I guess I don't do it much during other seasons because my sneaks or boots are dirty. I've actually never really thought much about it, hah, cool topic.

It just bugs me if somebody does that in my car without permission.

My wife and daughter both do it. I just assume it's a girl thing - they get regular pedicures so although I don't have a foot fetish, I think it's cute.

I don't put my feet on the dash but then I'm always the driver unless I have a major migraine.
But I do love to hang my feet out the window when parked and I'm waiting for someone.

Can't physically do it - there's too much of me and my legs are too long anyway. But I don't envy others, so I don't feel like I'm missing anything. The only 'weird sitting position' I do as a passenger is crossing one leg over the other (I switch whenever my legs feel like going to sleep). Which can be a little inconvenient for the driver if it's a manual car because my right foot usually ends up over the gear shift.
I distinctly remember back in the 1980's whenever my family would go on road trips, and my mother would brace her leg along the top of the door while the window was down. Her leg always ended up sunburned.

It has to be a super long drive for me to do this and my partner hates when I do it! But I have a tricky knee so to stretch it out during long drives really helps.
