I have 17 tats and am a promoter for a tat artist I have tats that can be hidden and some that are visible. I say go for it.

It depends on your life plans. Think about the consequences and what you'll be ruling out and if that will be a problem for you.
I certainly wouldn't count on concealing it with makeup. It's kind of a pain in the ass and takes some time and I wouldn't go for that unless the tattoo was some sort of deep spiritual necessity. Plus, it would be expensive, you'd go through a lot of makeup, and have to do it every single day of your life.
Personally, I wouldn't, because I don't yet want to rule out a lot of jobs. I'm not through college yet and not 100% what I want to do. I don't want to rule out so many things just for a tattoo when I don't have a solid future yet - not worth it to me.
I do have tattoos, and hours worth of them - and they would rule me out already for some jobs, but I'm not doing anything with my lower arms yet because that's a big step and crosses out many more options.
Sure, people are becoming more "accepting" - but why take a chance when I have the rest of my life to get it done after I have a stable "real job" ?

I say go for it if its what you want, just have a plan in place should you ever need to cover it
