Would you say that we are still in an economic mess? Is the economy getting better or worse?

I don't know, we're obviously not booming but I think it's better than it was in 2009 or 2010.

I agree with your overall concerns for the small business owners. There will be many difficult decisions which will not be good for the economy or anyone else for that matter. There's still so much uncertainty about Obamacare that no one will benefit in the end. More taxes, more penalties, and less health care in the long run. Thanks for sharing your feelings and concerns.

The job situation is going to get much worse after the 15th of April. Many small businesses like mine cannot afford health care for their employees and after paying the usual quarterlies and then any added taxes, the penalty for not providing insurance is going to close more doors than the fallen economy. Trust me!!
I am part of a business association and all of the other owners in my area are also seriously wondering if they will be in business after tax time. I am in a trade that has mainly businesses for clients. When the economy took a hit, I lost my real estate agents, general contractors, 1/3 of the businesses in my area closed and the cost of my materials went up...I managed to keep it together by running another business from home. After I pay my penalties for no insurance, I might have to close my doors.
Do not blame the businesses for the lower wages--they are barely surviving after paying taxes and comp on the employees. Add in health insurance and they are bankrupt--also, think about this...the older the employee, the higher the insurance premiums. I cannot EVER afford to hire someone over 25...so much for seniority, huh??? less

Wait for sequestration to kick in because neither side of the aisle could put their petty lobbyist bs behind them and work for the people.
Could get pretty crazy in the coming years.
