I think it would be great. Of course I like driving so I wouldn't be rushing to get one. I think one of the major benefits, if everyone had one would be less accidents and maybe an end to drunk driving.
I probably won't be an early adopter, but I'll get one as soon as the bugs are fully worked out. I used to love driving when I lived in a place with light traffic, but now it's just a chore.
The current technology would reduce traffic accidents and fatalities by 90%--that's about 30,000 lives saved each year (and 2 million injuries prevented). And the technology will only get better, reducing even more accidents and saving more lives. No matter how much someone enjoys the freedom of the open road, it's hard to argue against saving that many lives.
Add in the HUGE cost savings and the freedom to concentrate on more interesting things than some jerk who can't be bothered to turn off their damned cellphones (etc) and I'm sold.
I don't know if I really want one, but my fiance is very insistent that we both need them.
Neither of us are bad drivers (I do have 1 speeding ticket on my record though), but he works in the Transportation industry and spends a lot of his time reading accident reports.

I agree with this. Although I feel like there are some legal things to be worked through.

yes because when i started driving at age 18 i was in a wreck (noone got hurt) but every since i really have been scared to death to get behind the wheel afraid of killing someone so i refuse to drive n now im 29 so i would def get one of those cars but im pretty sure i would never be able to afford one
