Yep, I learned that way also.
Do you type the proper way?

I took a typing class in middle school and my grandmother as well bought me a typing computer program. Back then, I could've cared less, I thought it was a waste of my time. However, now, that is how I type. It's just natural for me. I type 60+ WPM and anything else just doesn't seem natural and slows me down.
I say I can type 60+ WPM when needed. On a daily basis I type probably around 40+, with kids and stuff and not needing to rush anything, I just take my time typing, hehe.

I took a typing class in high school and it changed the way I type. I typed fast before but now, it's crazy. It's true that there's a right way to type.

And do you type fast or slowly with whatever method you use?
I am just wondering what yall do because they pushed this at me when I took computer classes in school. My mom bought me a computer typing program once. I learned nothing from those classes lol. I use my index finger, thumb, and middle finger sometimes. In a completely improper way but I still do 60+ words a minute. less

I think I type pretty quickly, at least that is what everyone says.
But I sortof type the proper way? I know my pinky/baby fingers don't do all the tasks they are supposed to do... but other than that... I type the "proper" way.
With my toes.

Not really. I kinda hover in the general correct area, but I know I'm not using the "right" fingers. I never really developed good typing habits.

Yes, I type the proper way. I used to be a lot faster back when I was in school, but I'm not to bad now. Probably around 80 wpm.

I never learned to type. In fact,I am so terrible at typing that this is the second time to respond to this discussion. I accidentally erased the first one.

I learned, but I had been typing on my own for over twenty years by that point. I learned it enough for the class assignments and when the instructor was looking, but that was it. My typing speed suffered under that method.

I was taught to type this way in middle school and I mostly follow it.

Well, that's the way they taught us so yeah.
Trying to type any other way feels odd to me after so many years using the "proper" method.
But to each their own, I think...as long as it works for you go with it. =)
According to the little test I just took, I can type about 48 words per minute including the time it takes me to correct the errors.
It's fairly slow, comparatively, but I also don't do as much writing as I'd like.
I really ought to start practicing more to improve that speed.
