Well... I use them almost everyday in my solo sessions, but never with my husband, and I have no problem reaching orgasm during sex.
Do you think using sex toys in your sex life is ok or too excessive for every day use?
08/02/2010
Not every day but at least a few times each month, plenty of times with her and also alone. Once a year seems pretty absurd. No reason to use them constantly, but when the mood is right or solo play needs a little variety they're perfect.

yea, I definitely don't agree that they should not be used or only once a year, I haven't come across any issues of long term desensitizing from using even extremely high vibrations. As long as I tone them down or don't use them for a few days I'm back to being just as sensitive

There isn't any nerve damage that's done (thank you to my Dr. for clearing up that myth) it's just literally changing what you expect from your orgasm. patience and relaxation are key...unless there IS nerve damage or a hormone issue making it difficult for you.
I use a variety of vibrators of differing intensities and it helps to keep it all fresh. less

Every now and then. Not all the time, but about once a week.

Personally I think Dr Ruth is a fruit cake!
There is nothing wrong with using toys. If both people involved are happy with it, who the hell is she is say that!

I don't have a partner currently, so I use them a LOT...LOL!
09/27/2011
We use at least one toy pretty much every time. No regrets either!

We use some form of toy or another almost every time. Not usually something that vibrates, but some form of dildo or plug or SOMETHING.

I use them whenever I want to, with or without a partner. I love my toys and do not give a damn who thinks I use them to much. I do what I want and do not care what others think. I do not think it is too much unless I am wear vibrating panties daily! Even then so what it is mine I will play with it whenever I want however often I want. Once a year, haha, guess I am good for the rest of my life then. I use the few times a day, almost everyday.

You'd expect a woman to know better - but I assume that the ones touting all this misinformation simply haven't had as much sex as they claim - or that they and their partners are extraordinarily inept lovers.
Enjoy your toys and let the so called experts to wallow in their ignorance. less

Agreed! Doctors are frequently wrong. No one knows our bodies better than we do.
I stopped listening to the experts and started doing my own research long ago. I knew I had a brain tumor 2 years before I could actually get a doctor to entertain the thought of MRI-ing my brain, 13 years ago.
As most of you know, I have MS and my doctors, who are specialists, have been telling me, "Hmm, the numbness you complain could be MS, but we don't know, your MRIs look great." Only to find out two days ago, they had not given me the correct results a year ago at all. In fact, they didn't even MRI all the parts they were supposed to, or if they had the results are MIA.
Listen to your body and do not discount what it tells you, even when you have "experts" telling you different.

It's amazing how inept some of these practitioners seem. They're always looking for 'indisputable proof' when the symptoms are so obvious. I dated a doctor once who told me the best advice she ever got was - don't go looking for zebras - it's a horse (you horses ass)!

It seems to make sense, until you realize that the vibrations improve blood-flow which in turn improves sensation. GoAskAlice debunks that one here From personal experience, my clitoral sensitivity has gone from almost nil to triple what it once was since I started masturbating with a vibe.

I don't think there is anything wrong with using toys everyday
09/28/2011
We use sex toys just about everytime, I think we're way past the "vanilla" stage
01/28/2012
I use them almost every day. Maybe not every sexual encounter, though.
01/28/2012
I don't think there's such thing as anything excessive so long as it feels good and doesn't hurt anyone. Pleasure is pleasure, no matter the source.
07/20/2012
We probably use toys for maybe 1 in 5 of our sessions. I don't care if it's Dr Ruth, Bob the Builder, God or the ghost of Pablo Escobar saying we shouldn't - if we want to use toys, we will.
The thing that gets me about these 'experts' is that they think their opinions are right. Mine are equally as right. The difference is that I know mine are right for me and nobody else.

I find it health to use them in sex now and then
07/20/2012
Sounds really silly to say that using a toy more than once a year is excessive. That statement is excessive in itself in the worst way.
07/20/2012
I disagree.

Dr. Ruth, God love her, has done a lot for sexual openness, but she has some beliefs that are not true for everybody. For instance, she thinks women shouldn't try for multiple orgasms, because she THINKS that those women have weak ineffectual orgasms, and that any after the first are too weak to count. WTF? She hasn't been in our bedroom (or outside our bedroom door!)
She designed the Oricillator (I KNOW I spelled that wrong) but ONLY for women who are "pre-orgasmic" according to her, once you can have an orgasm, you are supposed to STOP using the vibrator. Kind of a waste of $150.00 vibe for my liking.
Shit, I just realized I voted wrong. I meant the SECOND one. less

I seem to recall several years ago I picked up a small book about sex (before I knew anything about anything) and it had little blurbs from Dr. Ruth in it. I remember one of them said something about her not believing the g-spot exists. Now that science has showed that at least some (probably all or most) women have a g-spot, she's calling it the "ghost spot."
Also, I hate "The Doctors" show in general. I tried to watch it, especially since I like Dr. Sears, but the first few episodes I watched seemed just like commercials for plastic surgery. Then I heard there was going to be a home birth episode. I watched it, and it was full of really inaccurate information and scare tactics. Not exactly what you'd call a wealth of accurate information.

Dr. Ruth said what! I say this because she promotes the Eroscillator brand I believe. Come to think of it, she is why we bought the Eroscillator to begin with. She certainly did not speak about limiting it's use back then. As a side note, my wife loves her Eroscillator.
