I remember my kindergarten teacher, she lives next to my grandma!
Do you remember your Kindergarten teacher(s)?

I do not remember my teacher, but I remember some parts of my class.

I remember my kindergarten teacher well. She was a nice woman, and I remember really liking her, but the time that stands out in my memory is when I got yelled at for something I didn't do. I remember it clearly; another little girl had completely wrecked the imagination play area, and I got blamed for it. Lost me several play-times, because the teacher was convinced I was lying about it.

No, I don't remember, kindergarten was over forty years ago!

My kindergarten teacher loved teddy bears. I remember her fondly and she still remembers me even though I'm over 20!

I remember mine! She was very sweet.

I couldn't agree more - all this gold star BS is killing the kids. They have a self-esteem that is way beyond anything they have ever accomplished.

Where I'm from, most parents actually aren't involved all that much in their kids' education either. I just happened to luck out and get a mother who pushed to make sure that my overeager self was allowed to learn to her heart's content as well as stay with kids of her own age. If the school had had their way, they would have just skipped me ahead a couple of grades and left me to fend for myself at the first sign of my mother's request for additional education, but she thought that my social development was important as well and just kept pushing.
Both of my parents are teachers, though my mother doesn't teach anymore, and with the ridiculous "no child left behind" bullshit that they pull in North American school boards these days, kids no longer even get punished with poor grades, let alone physical discipline! Not that I think that spanking is at all necessary for education, but this "everyone gets a gold star" philosophy is leaving kids woefully unprepared for the real world, in my opinion.
Off-topic, but does that mean that you actually got to watch Gunsmoke when it first aired on TV? I used to watch reruns of it (and a half a dozen other westerns) with my dad all the time when I was growing up, and it's left me with a terrible fondness for the genre. I would love to have watched it when westerns were "popular" and I could have actually discussed the show with people. less

Absolutely yes - I did watch a lot of the original Gunsmoke shows (1955-1975)! It started when I was just 1 year old - so the early ones were watched only as reruns. But they made original shows up into the 70s - so I saw plenty of them first-run. Thanks for asking!

Yes, I do remember her. She was a really nice lady. I visited her, 1st grade, and 3rd grade often. I liked to help them set up for class in the morning or just to visit them. I don't really remember my 2nd grade teacher because she had to leave. I think she was really ill, so they brought in a lot of substitutes. I disliked my 4th and 5th grade teachers. They constantly harassed me and were the cause of my anxiety issues. If it weren't for them, I wouldn't have anxiety.

I do remember a little bit about her but not a lot. I do remember a lot of my grade school teachers though.

I was thinking earlier today about how I had a fantastic teacher in Senior Kindergarten. She worked with my mother to get me set up on an individual education plan and was fantastic at explaining to the other kids why I spent time doing reading comprehension with an aid instead of listening to story time, or why I'd sometimes be out of class or doing different activities. She always made me feel included even when quite frankly, I wasn't a lot of the time. Things could have gone horribly for me if she hadn't been so adaptive, and I'm grateful to her and my mother for making sure that I got an early start on my education. Do you remember your Kindergarten teacher(s)? If you don't or skipped kindergarten altogether, were there any other teachers in your early academic life who were particularly influential? If you were home-schooled, how old were you when you began schooling? What sort of socialization options did your parent(s) make sure that you had?
