I recently got a car! I wasn't really expecting one and didn't particularly want it, but I needed it after college.
Do you own a car? If not, do you want to own one?

I've had a car in the past but currently do not have one. It's just too much money to have one and sadly, I can't afford it right now.

I'm 23 and have a car. It's my first car and I've had it for almost 2 years now. I've owned other cars before that but never drove them so I don't consider them my cars. My partner crashed my car last summer and the shop claimed it was totalled.. My dad fixed it for us He's the best.

I don't really need one and the costs of owning one outweighs the benefits.

Over 30 and own a car.

over 30 - owned car since 23

I'm 59 and with any sort of luck I will have my own car by the end of the year, hopefully by summer. Finally being cleared to get my license I am anxious to be able to get around without depending on others.

If you're the discussing type, tell us why you do or don't have or want your own set of wheels. less

We are both 30+, and we've owned cars since we were 16.

I'm 19 and still only have a learner's permit. Cars have very little appeal for me, and I would much prefer to utilize public transportation and biking.

Yeah, I know the feeling. Sorry to inflict that on you. If it makes you feel any better, I've always found women in their 30s sexier than women in their teens or 20s. I've felt that way since I was about 17--and still do.

I guess the article must have polled city dwellers or something, because it looks like about 80% of Millennial generation Edenites have a car. That's much higher than I expected.
I've had a car since I was 16. Now, my wife and I each have one. I used to love cars, but I've grown to hate them. Money, hassles, pollution. Too many friends and family seriously injured in crashes. I'm lucky to live in a place where I don't need to drive much. I drive so little lately that I disconnect the battery between uses so it doesn't go dead again like it did this time last year. Mechanic said if I didn't drive it for 2 weeks or more, that I should do that. I drove today for the first time since before Christmas Day. Too lazy to walk or bike a mile to the grocery store...

I'm 24 and own my own car. If I didn't have one, I wouldn't have any way to get around at all. When we move I will probably start riding my bike to go places in the spring or summer, but I would not give up my car.

Over 30 and have had a car since my late teens.

Got my license at 28, and I'm 35 now. Have owned two cars (both old enough to purchase alcohol in the US). The current car I own I've driven for less than a year, but has been inoperable since late 2009 when it caught fire on a cross-country trip (but I'm still paying on). I'm currently having to drive my mother's car (which is also old enough to purchase alcohol).
Cars are a fucking pain in the ass for multiple reasons, and I want to move some place that has better public transit and a walkable neighborhood.
My "other" - over 30, own a car, but don't want to.

Nice to know I'm not the only one. I should have included "have a car, but wish I didn't" as a option.
