be honest! I know it sounds bad but I totally judge based on how clean the house I'm visiting is, and it affects how comfortable I am there. What can I say? I'm a clean freak. Am I alone here, and does this make me a bad person?
Do you judge people based on the cleanliness of their homes?

Even though my house is FAR from perfect, I do this. If I come over unexpectedly, less so. If you know someone is coming, why wouldn't you clean?

Depends a lot on the circumstances. If it's someone who tends to be really busy, I'll ignore it. If it should've been cleaned for a planned event, I will judge

If someone's house is really messy/dirty I might judge a little bit, but I wouldn't say anything to them about it.
11/30/2012
Depends. Dirty is different than messy.
11/30/2012
It depends on if it's actually dirty or just in disarray. Piles of clean laundry that haven't been folded yet, stacks of mail, etc., eh. It is what it is. Some people, it's just hard to be organised. But food baked onto the stove, dog hair coating the bathroom floor, food ground into the carpet. That is inexcusable.

Clutter doesn't bother me; grime does. But on the other hand, immaculate houses make me uncomfortable.
11/30/2012
I do. I'm in college and have OCD, so just think about that.

I don't 'judge' someone based on the cleanliness of their home, but I do mentally compare it to the cleanliness of mine, and I'm happy if mine is cleaner.
12/01/2012
I don't judge, but if someone has garbage all over their floor I will worry about them and their health.
12/01/2012
sometimes... it depends.
12/01/2012
if there are underwear on the floor and a few dirty dishes in the sink, i will not judge them at all. if there is garbage everywhere, and it smells funky and there is random mold and the mold is spreading the thing the mold is growing on is now unidentifiable...i will judge that person.

I'm a clean person too -- super clean freak, but do not care what someone else's house looks like.

The state of your home is a reflection of yourself. As long as it's not something that makes me want to run out and call a Hazmat team, I wouldn't lose sleep about the way they chose to keep their house.

Oh lord, I do, especially if it's cluttered or smells funky. My house is far from super clean but the parts that are visible, I want to keep somewhat tidy/presentable.
12/01/2012
As long as it is not filthy dirty, garbage laden or otherwise just rude--I don't really care. We have all had our days when it just got put to the side.
12/01/2012
yea i do
12/01/2012
Cleanliness to me is making sure there's no grime, stains, dirt, or dust etc. If it's filthy like this, I may judge.
If you simply have clutter laying about, I don't consider that unclean.

no but I have a hard time eating at other peoples houses, and will not if it's messy.
12/01/2012
Not usually, only if it's really dirty.

I'm okay with a little clutter. Hoarding and filth is what I have a problem with.

Yes. I am like you, I love clean places, I clean my own room multiple times a week and the rest of the house at least once - usually sweep the floors three or more times and vaccume once a week.
The only thing I don't really judge on is dishes, if they are in the sink or on the counter by the sink and just look like they haven't been taken care of in a couple of days (2 or 3) then it's kind of w/e - if there are weird smells then it annoys me.
I hate cleaning up after people too ._. which is a big issue with my brother b/c he's a complete slob and if anything is cleaned I have to clean it. It's incredibly annoying considering he invites his guests over and they all make messes and don't clean after themselves...
Anyway, I very much judge people on cleanliness, because I don't want to be in an environment that makes me twitchy and uncomfortable. And disorganized, dirty environments do that. A bit of clutter? I'm cool with, some people like all their little decorations and things.

A dirty house will be judged. I don't mean a little dust on the back of furniture but filthy kitchen and bathroom and I'm out of there. I won't eat at someone's house that is dirty. Cluttered is different. Also if the just need to run a duster around or something that's ok it's filth ( dirty dishes, sticky counters, gross bathroom) that I cannot stand.
12/01/2012
By nature I'm a clean and clutter free person. I try not to judge others by the way their house looks, but I do take note of things that are not clean.
12/01/2012
Everyone's definition of clean is different. My house is generally messy...shoes or backpacks on the floor type of messy...to some that is interpretted to dirty. There are 6 of us it's not going to be immaculate all the time.
12/01/2012
It's usually not a big deal, and I try not to be too judgmental, but if someone's house is absolutely filthy, that's a horse of a different color.
12/01/2012
It depends how old they are. If it's a student house then I won't expect them to go around with a duster, whereas with a more mature person I think they should have that under control.
