Both, but more for health than looks
Do you exercise for your health or looks?

Both. I am overweight and I am more concerned with my health than the way I look. My fiance loves how I look and I think I look fine as well! But losing some weight and looking better is definitly a plus of working out

Actually I exercise because my wife tells me I have to!

I started exercising at a point in my life when I was unhappy with a lot of things and under a lot of stress, so it was for my mental health more than anything. Now it's a good habit and I continue to do it for my health and to stay in shape. I've noticed the few pounds I lost and the muscle tone I now have and I don't want to lose that.

I do it a lot for my health, but it doesn't hurt when I see myself in the mirror and I'm looking better than I did before.

so i look sexy

Health. I'm happy with my body the majority of the time, despite being aware that quite a few people would consider me fat. I wouldn't like the extremely toned/muscled look for myself so I'd never go to that extreme. I'm actually kind of afraid of losing weight because I've spent so much money on bras (my size is hard to find). It would be nice to have an easier time finding clothes though. I have little problem finding bottoms in my size, but finding tops that sit right is hard because of the size of my boobs.
I probably should exercise more to increase my fitness level. I injured my knee recently and am supposed to be cycling to build up strength. I will hopefully own an exercise bike soon, which will make this easier as I feel uncomfortable going to a gym and hiring a bike in the city for the day is inconvenient. So yes, it is especially important that I exercise now for health reasons.

I feel SO much better when I'm active. And I know about the many health benefits of exercise. I also like a lot of outdoor sports, so I like to keep fit so I can comfortably hike, bike, swim and x-country ski. I've never thought that much about my looks.

for my health, specifically my joints.

i do it mostly for my health. i am afraid of becoming an old, frail retired person (in 30 years....hopefully less). so i try to stay as strong as i can. the side effect is it makes me look damn good which people, including myself, enjoy.

I'm too ugly for it to help with looks, so it's for health. But it feels like a chore no matter what.

probably the breakdown is something like 75% for health and 25% for looks. I am overweight and have horrible family history, so while I don't have any health issues currently, it could definitely happen. I would love to prevent anything I can. It's really nice to see changes in your health too...endurance getting better, being able to lift more pounds, watch your blood pressure and cholesterol down. Those stats are really important to me as someone who really has to take care of her heart.
But anyways....on the other side, I really want to look hot one day, too, and I know exercise will help me with that!

Both, but mostly because of health.

Both

Both, but I'd say I'm actually in it more for my looks. I put on weight when I took a desk job over two very active jobs, and I'm kicking myself for it, since I was at my ideal weight when I took the job. I feel sexy when I feel fit. I'm one of those lucky, a-type, first-born species of folks that suffers from an excess of confidence in almost every area but body image, but the recent drop in body confidence is affecting more of my overall self-confidence, so I'm working on it for some emotional/mental health reasons. My mental and emotional strength is what supports my husband, who needs a supportive hand with his mental and emotional health, and I let him down if I am not my normal self.
I'm definitely considering the health side of it, but I'm relatively young, grew up and continue to be pretty active, I have a decent family history, and my BMI is still in the normal range. I just don't like how I fit in my clothes, and my posture suffers greatly when I don't have muscle tone. That just seems like needless back pain to have when a few situps will fix it.
I do have one practical reason for staying fit. As a wedding photographer, I need to be able to run, jump, squat, and move around in full squat for about 10 to 12 hours at a time. I can't do that if I'm out of shape. After a solid wedding, my legs are sore to the touch for a few days.
I enjoy strength training, and I am trying to get into yoga with my friend. I don't really enjoy cardio, but I like playing active games, water sports, and hiking.

cmon....that cannot be true. i guarantee you are not as "ugly" as you think. i guarantee i am not as attractive as i think. but confidence is attractive. you can improve your appearance with continued effort. not trying will never improve anything. but there are MANY things men find sexy that are not related to looks.
