I grow much of my own produce. Like lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, green beans, black eyed peas, etc. some of it I can freeze and can, but things like lettuce I can't, so I buy lettuce at the store in winter. Everyone should have a garden if possible.

The process of pastuarization has been proved to deteriate the arteries. The growth hormones they put in milk, when ingested by humans, keeps working and is the reason for so many obese children these days. Milk is NOT good for the body!

For good yogurt, kefir, and other products - I like Trader Joe's. I know there aren't may around though. Also, Wegmans has an excellent selection.

I avoid organic products in most cases, because the USDA organic production methods are not capable of producing enough food to supply the world's population, would require converting non-prime farmland into farmland, and most importantly, create conditions where insect pests thrive and spread from farm to farm.

I do only buy dairy products from cows which are not given RGbH, though. I am not sure about health claims, but I think the RGbH hormone is unethical, and leads to overall unhealthy dairy cows.

If there is no 'non-RGbH, non-organic' milk available, I will buy the organic because I think RGbH is the greater of the evils.

If you're on a budget, I'd recommend buying your dairy and meat organic (especially butter and other products with high fat content as the pesticides compound in the fat). Also I understand in the US there is an even greater improvement in quality for dairy when you buy it organic. (I think we have stricter guidelines here in Canada.)

Conventional produce is reasonably fine There are lists you can find of the fruits and veggies that tend to collect the most pesticide residue.. Things like strawberries are good to get organic, while broccoli is not so big a deal. Good luck!

Have you tried Coconut Milk instead? I have been drinking a brand called "So Delicious", they're organic and they're delicious.

Walmart "organic" is not the same thing as organic from the farmers market. I'd much rather buy non-organic from the farmers market, than "organic" from walmart.

Went one step further and have our own milk cow, raise our own beef cow and chickens for organic free-range eggs. If we could not do this then yes I would be buying the highest quality food I could. Our future depends on raising healthy children who can then do the same. World is heading in a dangerous direction.

I don't really buy organic at all. I would probably like to, I think it's healthier, but it's also much more expensive.
My local grocery store often sells avocados (which I eat like freakin' candy) at 10 for $10. The organic ones are usually at least $2-3 each, and I just can't afford that.
I suppose I could probably afford to get organic avocados once in a while, but never my entire load of produce and dairy!
