Wondering how many people do...
Do you always read the ingredients of what you eat/drink? :)

I have to check for aspartame (if it has it, I can't eat or drink it), so I end up reading all labels - it always surprises me what it turns up in. There's other things I try to avoid, too, so reading labels is a must

I check the ingredients sometimes, but I don't worry about it too much, I don't eat much junk food.

I check the ingredients on everything new I buy or anything I'm interested in buying. I'm sensitive to sugar alcohols so I have to check any ice cream or candy I buy.

Cat E.
I read labels quite a bit, mostly out of habit.

I sometimes do. But since I am not allergic to anything really, I don't need to.

Quite often, but not because I'm trying to avoid anything. I just enjoy reading random stuff.
09/13/2012
i use common sense and choose healthy where i can

Not usually.....=/

I only check the ingredients of a few things. I like to buy protein bars to have before or after working out. Some of them have beef juice in them to provide the protein, which includes the fat. I don't like the added fat, which is usually a lot of saturated fat, so I avoid those ones and get the ones with whey protein. Other than that, I don't read them.

I only check if I think it might have aspartame, as it seems to affect me badly.

sometimes

For the most part no.

I read all labels. I like knowing what I am putting in my body.

I do, but I'm mainly scouting out hidden ingredients which I hate, such as mushrooms. I glance for strange additives afterwards.
09/13/2012
Since I don't have food allergies I really don't read the labels.
09/13/2012
Every once in awhile I will take a look... but as Camoprincess above said, I don't have any allergies, so I don't really read them.

My family is comprised of Celiac's Disease, Diabetes and Hypoglycemia. All of these are controlled mostly by our diets so it's very important to us to know the ingredients, etc.

Nah, just avoid processed foods as much as possible
09/13/2012
I may read them, but only because I'm bored while prepping the food.

I do just because i have to watch my salt intake big time sine im allergic to iodine.

I keep kosher, so I often have to read the labels to make sure there isn't something I can't have in the food, and so I don't unwittingly mix dairy and meat (yes, I keep THAT kosher). Around Passover, all I do is read labels to see what has leavening agents, thus rendering it treyf (non-kosher, that is) for the duration of Passover.
If none of the above makes sense to you, it's okay--it hardly makes sense to us too, sometimes.

I once went on a "diet" where I wouldn't eat anything that had too many ingredients or HFCS. I lost 35 pounds. Not sure if it was from avoiding gunk in my food or not eating a lot because I couldn't find much without crap in it! lol
09/13/2012
I don't always but I probably should!
09/13/2012
Yes, I'm allergic to aspartame and most fake sugars.

I have food allergies, so I read the ingredients labels of prepared food to ensure that there aren't any nightshade plants.
I've also recently decided to try reducing the amount of gluten and high glycemic index carbs in my diet to see if it helps with GERD and some other stuff, so am being extra label-conscious at the moment.
