I do, but the people who lived here before us didn't. They had to search for days before they could even FIND the key to the garage, which they claimed never to have locked in 30+ years of living here. They didn't lock the doors, or the windows, of the house; they didn't lock their cars, or the shed with the lawn mower and snowblower... And they never had a single problem.
That made me feel really good about our neighborhood — but I still lock up! I just can't seem to "let go" enough to leave anything valuable unlocked.
How about YOU? Do you always lock up?

Guilty of not locking doors. I've grown up in the same spot my entire life and nobody around here locks doors, but the past couple of years we've heard of a few break-ins, so more people have started to. I tried that ol' lockin' the doors thing for a while & it was nice, but I ended up locking out my family and partner who all come and go throughout the early day time when I am sleeping. So I quit. LOL. Even though we live in probably the most peaceful, friendly neighborhood on earth, it's not the best idea to not lock our doors. We really should. My lovie flips out over me not locking them, but that is just how I grew up so it's not a ritual I remember every day anyways. I should get into the habit, but I really hate when I'm passed out and people can't get in (family and him) so they come pound on the window of my bedroom. And I feel bad when they have to wait for me to wake up. LOL.
I do keep my car locked & if we ever go out of town, we actually have to put locks on not only our front & back doors, but bedrooms too because we have a theif in the family who has literally robbed me of every posession in my bedroom more than once while I was gone, so that is necessary. That is also why I keep my car locked. At one point, I even had to lock most of my belonging in my car! I don't take chances there because this family member could very well sneak up while I'm sleeping and actually take off in my car if it weren't locked. And I am not even playing. LOL. It happened before. I'd been in surgery and my partner drove me because well, you can't drive yourself after surgery, so my car was left home. My older sister called me minutes after I got out of surgery and was in the vehicle to tell me my car was gone from the house! I panicked and what do ya know? Lovely family member decided my being in surgery was the perfect opportunity to go for an all day joy ride! So I keep that sucker locked up at all times.
