Seems they are giving these things everywhere, from workplace to drug stores! So, have you taken the flu shot in 2011, or are you planning on it?
Did you, or are you going to take a flu shot this year?

I never have had a flu shot, and never have had the flu.
Maybe if I worked in a higher-risk environment, I'd consider it.

No, it always makes me sick. I don't get sick at all if I skip it.

No flu shot for me, never have. Same for my children.

I'm a nurse, and my last employer required that their staff get it. So, I have taken the flu shot in the past. But I'm not working now and I don't plan on getting it.

We said yes last year to our son getting one, because he was 2. And if he got sick like that, it would be hard on him. We talked to the Dr and learned that the virus is a dead one, so he could not get the Flu from a Flu shot. So we agreed, but what happened, he got the Flu. It was not from the shot, but the shot only protects you from the Flu virus in that shot, not all of them. So he just caught another Flu, so this year, we skipped the Flu shot.

Not happening this year. I have only really gotten twice in the last 5 years. That is even with working with kids. I never got sick from all the kidddos.
12/16/2011
NEVER!!!!!
12/16/2011
Yes, we do it every year. Thought you've asked this question a while back already!

I haven't had any shots of any kind in so long I can't remember when I last had one. lol No flu shots in at least 10 years, if not longer. Probably since 2000 mid year. When I moved from Australia to the U.S. I had extensive probing, (shots, blood drawn etc). Since then I do not believe I have had any shots.
12/16/2011
Yeah, no shot for me either. Like beck said, it only protects you from the dead bugs in the shot, not for the other types. They actually change the type of shot every year, based on the findings of the CDC. I know more people who have gotten sick after a flu shot than people who didn't get the shot at all.

I seem to get sick every winter, whether I get a shot or not. Plus, I was a little deterred after reading an article (and watching the video report) of a talented young woman who ended up paralyzed because of the flu shot, unable to speak, with limited motor functions. I know, the odds of that happening are low, but I'd rather take the flu and not the risk.

no thanks to my good health

Never have, never will. And for those who said their employers require it, they can't! Claim religious exemption (doesn't matter your religion) and they can not require you to take it. Vaccinations do more harm than good.

My best friend's father died of complications caused by the damn flu shot so I will never get one and neither will my hubby or son.
12/16/2011
I hate shots.
12/17/2011
Already got it.

I always get a flu shot. Of course I work in a high risk environment and deal with emergency management, so I am pretty much required to. Even if I wasn't required to, I would get it. Every time I hear people complaining about getting sick after getting the shot and I just roll my eyes. You can not get sick off of a dead virus (injection) or an attenuated virus (nasal spray). Most of the time, when people say they got sick from getting it, they either:
a) Don't have influenza (instead they usually have acute viral rhinopharyngitis... also known as a cold;
or
b) Develop symptoms within 2 or 3 days of the shot, even though incubation for influenza is usually 4-7 days (in other words, they already had it before the shot).
I strongly encourage everyone I know to get the vaccine as well. Not because I don't want them getting sick, but because I understand herd immunity and realize the importance of having most of the population protected.

They used to always make me sick. I finally got mine this year because work was doing them for free. Did it on my last day there actually. LOL. Not sure if it has helped since no one I know got the flu, yet anyway. I usually depend on herd immunity since everyone I know gets their shots.

I never have and probably won't this year either, though I work with children so I should.

Well put! I just don't understand why people are so against the flu injections, I personally have never encountered any problems after getting the shots, and I've been doing it for years. Unless there's a really bad flu epidemic, most people just don't give a damn about it.

I get it every year at work. It's convenient and it's free. I get it every year. I haven't been sick in over 5 years.
My mother works at a hospital where it's mandatory to get the shot, even if you don't have any contact with the patients.

No flu shot for me!
12/25/2011
Pleased to see so many "no's."
12/25/2011
Nope, I'm a healthy 21 year old. I see no need to get a flu shot, if I don't and get the flu, my immune system will be stronger than if I had been immunized.
12/25/2011
No, I will not. I'm very wary of flu vaccinations.
My friend recently got very sick from her vaccination so it doesn't really help make me feel better about them.

No, it's been a really long time since I had the flu, and I've never had a flu shot either.
12/26/2011
Yes,but not sure why I ask my self every year.
12/26/2011
nope, never.
12/26/2011
I did because we are having a baby and I don't want to pass that on to an infant. Usually I skip though.
