We've never been, but my parents used to go quite a bit and they loved it.

No, I really don't want to, because they're awful for the environment -- they dump TONS of waste into the ocean, more than a cargo ship because of the sheer number of people on board.
And also I've heard so many horror stories. My SO's personal trainer recently went, and they were fumigating the boat because of a horrible stomach bug going through all the people on the cruise! Then he and his entire family got a horrific respiratory infection. You just can't escape the germs when you're stuck on a boat in the middle of the water with so many people.

I have never been on one and don't think I ever will. I would rather go to a place, stay in a nice hotel, and sight see. I don't think being on a ship is my cup of tea.

I've been on one when I was younger with my parents. It's fun but for me it felt like I was just on a week long hotel stay with little to see. I guess I'm just more of a sightseeing style traveler though.

I've never been on one but I've always wanted to...even with all the current stuff that happened.

Do some research - modern cruise ships are required to capture and treat all waste. Recyclables are taken to port, other wastes are incinerated and the ash brought to shore for landfill disposal.

Water from showers and sinks 'gray water' is separate from toilets 'black water'. I believe gray water is discharged. Black water is treated and filtered before discharge.
You have a point with issues with gastrointestinal and respiratory issues - it's a lot like flying. I always get sniffles when I fly more than 2 hours. Luckily they go away after being on the ground for a day or so.
We've been on 3 cruises and had no problems - aside from sleeping and dining we were outdoors in the fresh air as much as possible.
If I had a compromised immune system I would not go on a cruise - otherwise they are a lot of fun.

I've never been on one, but my partner is from a wealthy family and has been on several, with only positive things to say about them! The websites for most cruise companies are pretty informative, from what I've seen. Check out a few that you're leaning toward and see if they have virtual tours etc.

I'm an outdoorsy type. I think I would get bored on a cruise.
04/25/2012
I would go on one given the chance, but I don't think I would like it as much as other forms of vacations.

I've never been on a cruise, but always wanted to!

I wouldn't mind going on a cruise, just not a Caribbean one.
I've never been on one.

Never been on one but I say yes. My fiance and I are considering that for our honeymoon.

going on a cruise was the best vacation I've ever gone on!
I went on a carnival cruise about a year and a half ago and I felt like a VIP. There was all the food you could eat (I ate sushi EVERY DAY! yumm!) and plenty of free shows that are included with the cruise (stand up comedy, music, etc)
I pretty much just hung out in the hot tubs all day and drank wine while getting the best tan I've ever had, and I ordered cheesecake in the middle of the night every night since it was free room service.

We went on our first cruise last year to celebrate our anniversary. We went with the intention of having a great time which is exactly what we did. We had the best time ever! We will be going again ASAP.

i've always wanted to go on one but i havent had the chance

I live right by a port and being a local we get great deals on cruises. I've been on many and they are so much fun! Some of the best times I've ever had.
04/25/2012
You definitely should give it a try! You don't have to plan your meals, you get to go ashore to tour around at designated seaports, then be back on board to rest, eat and have fun doing all sorts of activities - everything is soooo relaxing!
04/25/2012
I personally wouldn't go on a cruise, but it's not my thing. I prefer to be on stable land, unless it's only for a very short period of time (couple of hours max).
04/25/2012
We went on a cruise as a family vacation. I had a great time. That said, while I'm still young, I'd rather go somewhere where I can really explore a city or a country and DO things. There's lots of lounging on a cruise. Though there are activities (either thru/recommended by the cruise company or you could go out on your own) that you can do in each port. But you usually don't spend an overnight in port so you can't enjoy the nightlife. Some may not even justify eating out in port since it's free on the ship.

I have never been on a cruise and have no desire to go on one. Between the pirate attacks (really) sinkings, strandings, food poisonings, and high number of seniors on most cruises, cruises are not something I ever want to do.
I like a nice vacation somewhere where there are a lot of historical attractions and shopping. Washington DC is nice, as is the rest of the East Coast. I like San Fransisco. I really want to go to Portland when we can afford it. We also spent time in the U.P. of Michigan, near Copper Harbor. A lovely place.
I'm not a fan of "tropical" places, nor boats, planes etc.
Your mileage may vary.

I just heard on the news that it's a good time to go on a cruise! Seems like people are freaked out from the Titanic's sinking anniversay plus that news story about the Concordia cruise ship disaster. It's making prices lower. Maybe it's a good idea.
I've never been on a cruise before.

I'm in love with going on cruises!!!!
04/25/2012
Yeah, no. Cruises are not my thing at all. I'd be stuck inside for most of the day or trying to find areas that are shaded to avoid massive amounts of sun exposure and as P'Gell said, the whole concept and what the reality of it is doesn't appeal to me either.
I'm way too young to be playing shuffle board. The pirate aspect doesn't really bother me, it's a lot harder to take down a huge cruise ship than it is to take down a merchant vessel. Certainly more difficult to get on board. It's not like you can sneak up on them or anything.

I have never been. But I hear a lot of good things about them. Maybe some day I will go on one of them.
