I wear glasses, and like them well enough, but I miss having contacts. I just can't afford them right now.
Contacts or glasses?
07/24/2010
I wear glasses for reading only. I love them. They are rainbow and match my personality perfectly.
07/24/2010
I wear contacts, but I have a pair of glasses that I wear when I'm going to bed, or I'm sick, or something like that.
I don't like glasses because I just can't stand the feel of something on my face. I also hate having them either squeeze the crap out of the sides of my head or else fall off - I'm a contact lense girl all the way.

I used to alternate between glasses and contacts, and I didn't mind either. I got Lasik about 3 years ago, so now the only kind of glasses I wear are sunglasses.

The whole thing seems a little risky/scary.

I've had to wear glasses for about 3 years now. I've never loved them, but have definitely hated them. Now I'm mostly used to them and I'm just glad I can see well. lol I doubt I'll ever try contacts as I have to many problems with eye sensitivity as it is, and I think contacts would be an annoyance.
07/24/2010
Lol at the options.. I wear glasses most of the time, but when I want to get fancy, I break out the contacts. My eyes get dry easy though, so I try not to wear them all the time every day..
07/24/2010
I have such a love hate relationship with my contacts. I love them compared to my glasses but I still hate that I need them at all.
07/24/2010
I wear glasses for reading on the computer. I love the cute frames they have these days and I think I look cute in them.
My hubs wears contacts and loves them! I don't think he will ever go back to glasses. I know if we could afford it he would definately consider lasik.

So, have you come to a decision, Blinker?

I love my sunglasses, and my eyes have gotten a bit more sensitive to light over the years, so I really hate when I can't wear them, so for this reason I love my contacts. But for the days that my contacts are driving me up a tree, I love my glasses too. I've done the thick black frames and those look hot on me, but I found out that Converse makes glasses too, and I have a HUGE thing for Converse, and luckily a small enough head that I can wear kids glasses, so I sport my Converse glasses quite frequently, lol. I also have a pair of red DKNY frames that I wear when I'm looking to make a statement, but they're not the greatest for everyday wear.
Also, way to totally steal this thread from me before I got around to making it

I'm just so tempted by the easiness of contacts. I'm sick of my glasses foggin gup, getting smudgy, rain, blargh. But I do like how glasses look, so I'll be keeping this pair regardless.
Everyone's suggestions helped! I just wish I could get Lasik, dammit.

I will post one defense on glasses:
When holding them up to the light, there's all that stuff on them that I can really see. The only thing that comes to mind is "How much of this crap would get into my eyes if I wasn't wearing glasses??"

I started wearing contacts in jr. high because I hated my glasses. So for the last 10+ years I have worn them and loved them, and only worn my ugly, outdated prescription glasses at home at night when no-one else was around. BUT this last December I got a new pair of glasses that I just LOVE, and I wish I wore them more. It's hard for me to switch between the two, mostly I think because I have gotten so used to wearing contacts, I forget that glasses are an option. and I do get frustrated by how hard it is to keep glasses clean. ..and the rain, that's a pain.

I've been wearing glasses since I was five and I'm so used to them that I just thought contacts were weird. And I personally think I look better with my glasses on

I love my contacts, but it's really better to have both. there have been a few times where my contact has ripped or somethings gotten in behind it and irritated my eye and then I can't wear them and I'm left sightless. Times like that I really wish I had a pair of glasses handy to slap on my face.

I have transition lenses so I have cute glassea AND sunglasses in one! I tried contacts but I have double astigmatism of both irises. It means my irises are basically eliptical so the contacts can't move or I go all fuzzy. I also have hypothyroidsm with makes all my body secretions thicker and more oily than normal so I constantly had to keep rewetting my contacts even the ones that were supposed to be SUPER DUPER moist all the time.

Glasses just became easier to maintain and use, slap em on and go sort of thing.

As a cheerleader you count steps and practice where you are supposed to be...it's the same for professional dancers who always seem to walk into walls and stuff. It's perfectly normal albeit embarrassing

Ya I hate to drive at night the car headlights just seem so bight and in your face no fun at all. A little trick if you ever do need to drive at night if you look slightly to the edge of the passenger side of the road (obviously don't turn your head) it helps with how intense the headlights are. Im also a very anxious person as well... Especially in cars my boyfriend hates it since I always have to look to make sure no cars are coming and it makes it hard for him to see (I get scolded a lot for it)
As for walking into walls I do that with my glasses and contacts on as well lol I'm just clumsy (you'd think as a cheerleader id have better coordination) but its definitely a lot harder to figure out what's a space and wha'ts not when the wall through the door matches the color of the door frame and its all blurry and fuzzed together. less

Both for me! I made the "permanent" switch to contact lenses almost three years ago. I love not having to worry about dirty lenses, condensation, losing my glasses on a roller coaster, not being able to wear sunglasses, etc.

So those of you that are visionally-impaired (yes, I made that up), which do you prefer? Feel free to elaborate! And if you've had Lasik or other vision-correcting surgery, feel free to talk about it! less

But I do have two pairs of glasses for my lazy days.
Might I suggest you check out Zenni Optical? If you have a prescription for glasses, you can order a pair of glasses wholesale for as little as $12.95. I've ordered two pairs from Zenni now, and have paid less than $50 TOTAL. The one order was $19.95, the other was $24.95.
If you go the Zenni route, you'll be able to afford the switch to contacts.

I wear glasses. Not a big fan, wish I didn't need anything. No money for any sort of laser surgery though.

I wear both. Sometimes I want the freedom of the contacts but it's always nice to have a backup pair of cute glasses.

Meh....
I've spent my life bouncing around from glasses, to contacts...to glasses. I'll probably stay with the glasses, ultimately. As they last significantly longer...and my contacts have to be custom made...then I still have to get reading glasses on top of that. (can we say REALLY bad eye sight)...

For everyday use, I wear glasses. I'm not too crazy about wearing glasses. When I go out for fun or a special occasion, I wear contacts. I do not like wearing contacts too often, because my eyes become easily irritated.

I wear reading glasses. No.. sorry.. I am SUPPOSED to wear reading glasses but most of the time I don't.
