Glad someone is realistic. AT THIS STAGE is right. I was there. No more. Age is the great robber of physical function...sight being one of them.

Nothing scary about it, however, it may end up causing some issues like seeing halo's around lights at night and in some people, after a year or two, you STILL need contacts or glasses...so is it really that worth it???

Bit of advice...if you are doing well with cheap readers...those ten dollar kind, just go to a DOLLAR store. They have the EXACT same readers for a buck. We have them ALL OVER THE HOUSE now, so you don't even need to remember where you left a pair.

Contacts. Unless I'm too bloody tired, or lazy, to put them in. My girl will then go all on me and I'll do it anyway...
Ha, ha. My wife does the same to me if I fail to put on my new glasses now.

I've been wearing contact lenses for 30 years and keep considering Lasik surgery but have yet to make the jump. My nearsightedness is so bad that I'd really love to be able to clearly see beyond a couple of feet but since I'm still able to get 20/25 vision with my contacts I keep coming to the conclusion of "don't fix what's not broke". With my luck, I'd be one of the few to come out of surgery with worse vision.

My eyes are terrible and continue to get worse, despite my being in my mid-20s. I wear contacts throughout the day and have glasses for at night or off days. I got an upgraded, sexy pair with the intention of swapping my glasses and contacts, but there's just no going back to glasses all day. I can never see as well with them.

My dad did LASIK about 4 years ago and he's had fantastic, problem-free vision. I might consider it one day... I'd like to be able to see my man without wearing glasses to bed!

Yes it is worth it for many. My wife was near blind a 6+ diopter in her early 30s. We got her lased and like a miracle her vision was perfect the next day.

That perfect vision lasted until she was about 42 when like most of us she started to need readers - but her distance vision is still perfect after more than 10 years.

My Man has nothing but good things to say about it. He was so blind, just to be able to see me in bed is worth the surgery. He used to pick up his alarm clock and put it on his face to see what time it was in the morning. Even a clock with huge numbers was difficult for him to see. Now he sees fantastically.

I would love to get corrective surgery. My prescription hasn't changed in about two years, so I'm pretty sure now is a good time. I finally got glasses to help ease the burden on my eyes. Contacts over 15 hours, most of which are in front of a computer screen, make for nasty headaches.

I wear glasses constantly, and really want corrective surgery. It's going to be a while though, before I will be able to afford it.

I wear both glasses and contacts, although I've been wearing my glasses much more frequently since I sprung for the glasses with the Transitions lenses. I did just buy more contacts though, so I should now have some that are theoretically the correct prescription. My glasses aren't as crisp as they could be, so I know my prescription has changed some. But if I have my husband's glasses stacked on top of my own I can see crystal clear. Ordered a pair of glasses from zennioptical.com to test out both prescriptions stacked in one pair. I figured that with shipping bringing my order to a whopping $23 bucks, if it didn't work right and I really wanted a new prescription, I'd suck it up and go in to the eye doctor anyway.

I wear glasses. It seems my eyes love to change every year and in some cases get worse or better. I can't see far away at all, so they are necessary when i drive, in which case I had to buy clip on sunglass lenses since I can't take a lot of bright light, either.

A majority of the time, I just wear glasses, because they are easy. But I also wear contacts.

ugh I wear glasses, but I prefer contacts. I would sacrifice my first born for corrective laser surgery, but such is life

I wear glasses, my vision has been rapidly declining since I was nine. If it ever stops declining I'll get surgery. I can see an inch in front of my face clearly and closer or farther is a complete blur.

I wear glasses, mostly for driving, watching TV and at work. I would like to get contacts when I go back to the eye doctor too, just because I have this severely annoying habot of leaving my glasses lying around and then I forget them and go around squinting which is never good.
