This is totally ridiculous. Even if I had the money, I would never consider doing it.

No, I would save one from the humane society instead.

It doesn't make much sense to me. It will be a different animal with the same genetics--go buy a sibling of the pet.....

No, the animal will have the same genes but will be a different dog. Also that new dog won't live as long as the original because we haven't figured out the specifics to cloning.

This question makes me think of the Errol Morris documentary "Tabloid."

I love my pets but if you are thinking of cloning, the money is probably better spent on psychotherapy.

Nope. I love my dog, but what makes him him is his, ah, unique personality. It's not something that can be cloned.

No, I think I would just get a new pet.

My question is, whos to say that they didn't just go get a new puppy from the pound and say
"Here's your dead cloned doggy...now...uhhh...w here's my money?"

I wouldn't do it.

I couldn't do it.

No, but for different reasoning--I think cloning is unnatural, and that it's a painful, but normal part of life to say goodbye to something you love. And I think it's healthier to let go at the right time, rather than cling in denial. The pet wouldn't be the same, anyway. There's nature, but also nurture involved in how something behaves, and nurture includes all kinds of variables. Just...no. Wouldn't do it.

No, one passing was enough for me.

This is not something I think I would be able to do, even if I could afford it. Losing a pet is hard but it is a part of life.

I had a dream that I was cloned and when I died, people spent time with my clone so they'd never have to be sad I was gone. It was depressing. So I wouldn't do that to my son. Who is a dog. Besides, the clone would not be the same person.

No. I find that a little creepy and weird.

A clone just wouldn't be the same, at least not enough to justify that sort of money.

No. I don't think people realize that the animal they get wont be the pet they had before. The personality is what they fell in love with and you will never get that personality back. Just get a new animal and move on.
