Absolutely love the smell of winter. So crisp, so clean. The faint smell of the neighbors fire, wet leaves on the ground, evergreens in the yard. Love it.
Can you smell winter?

It smells so good. I love it!

I noticed it the other night.
I hope we get a LOT of snow this winter to make up for the lack of snow last winter.

I was walking through my neighborhood the other evening and I got a very intense scent of pine. It was lovely, and definitely very seasonal!

I often comment on how the air smells because it's so noticeable in the days before winter, but still in fall. I can definitely smell winter!!! Other people may think I'm crazy but winter smells like snow, even if it never snows (I live in the south). Someone could probably get all scientific about the smell being drying leaves or something but it's definitely there.

I don't smell it. But can tell early on it is about to change.

I can tell the change in the air

Also, I like the smell of the furnace/heat being turned on for the first time. That to me smells like "winter." I think it's just burning dust that has been sitting on the unit all year. I suppose that's kinda of odd but it's just a clear "it's winter weather now" smell for me.

I would just like to say... You guys are awesome! I made this thread because any time I say something about the air smelling fresh or clean or like winter, people ALWAYS look at me like I'm crazy. I really didn't know it was so common--I thought I was the only one!

I can smell the crisp cold air.

I can smell the change. the air seems fresh and crisp.

Spending most of my life in Florida, I had a sharply-tuned ability to smell it when I lived in Montana for a few years. It was the most amazing scent I've ever experienced. I miss it.

i can

I can smell the change but I wouldn't say I love it. I find it fascinating, sure but I don't love it because I don't really like winter to begin with lol.

I love all 4 seasons and each season has its own smells. I can usually tell just by smell when it's going to rain or snow, or whether it's going to get colder or warmer. This comes from a lifetime of backpacking and other outdoor pursuits--and it sure comes in handy sometimes!
