I know a lot of people when I taught English that couldn't read or write it.
Can you read and write in cursive?

I have a harder time reading that writing

Yes, I can read and write in cursive. Cursive writing is pretty!

Why did they ever teach us this in school? Who writes in cursive normally anymore?

yep, use it every day

I really prefer print.
01/31/2013
Of course.

I feel like I have my own brand of cursive that is about 80/20 cursive/print. It's some of those crazy letters like capital Q and Z that I don't care to make the effort for.

I only write in cursive. My print is horrible.

Depends on the cursive -shrug- Most things aren't ever in cursive so there's no point to really focus on it but if someone has good penmanship with few 'quirks' in their lettering I can read it.
I prefer to write in cursive but for the sake of legibility I normally write things in print I will need to read through often - such as lists - or that are written for other people to read.

I also remember being told that this was it from that point on. It obviously didn't last. I think it's a valueable skill to have though. Some people still use it a lot.

I can read and write it, but sometimes have a bit of difficulty reading it depending on the handwriting. I tend to write mostly in cursive.

might be showing my age here, haha

I can read cursive, but I never really learned to write it very well. When I was in school, they seemed to teach it as a unit- perhaps for a week or two- before it was simply forgotten one more.

I can read and write it. I learned in elementary school as well. I keep hearing that some schools plan to stop teaching it though.

I can read it. It takes concious effort for me to write all in cursive, otherwise it a mix of printing and cursive. I tend to meld letters together writing cursive.
Hey, I'm a lefty. Did anyone else get constantly corrected in grade school for not having a proper slant on their cursive?

Read & write, and usually that's how I write. My 3rd-grader is learning cursive now, but it's a little different than I learned, more upright and simple.
02/03/2013
Yes I can.

I can read and write it, but you're SO right! I use it to write checks, but otherwise it's been a useless skill.

I can read and write in it. But I really hate to read and write in cursive. I find it annoying and kind of frustrating

Yes i can still read and write in cursive but thinking about it its like what was the whole point?? Cursive is not something that we use in our everyday lives and on a regular basis. Anywhere I go whether its something thats not that important or it could be a business matter, very seldom do i see somebody witing in cursive, unless its their signature, thats probably the only thing thats in cursive.
