Can you BUY someone's LOVE?

Contributor: PassionateLover2 PassionateLover2
Is it possible that you can BUY someone's LOVE? As the popular 'Beatles' song proclaims;

Can't buy me love, love
Can't buy me love

I'll buy you a diamond ring my friend
If it makes you feel all right
I'll get you anything my friend
If it makes you feel all right
'Cause I don't care too much for money
For money can't buy me love

I'll give you all I've got to give
If you say you love me too
I may not have a lot to give
But what I've got I'll give to you
I don't care too much for money
For money can't buy me love

Can't buy me love
Everybody tells me so
Can't buy me love
No no no, no

Say you don't need no diamond rings
And I'll be satisfied
Tell me that you want the kind of things
That money just can't buy
I don't care too much for money
Money can't buy me love

Can't buy me love, love
Can't buy me love, oh

So do you think there is any truth to this song as it relates to your life's experiences? Do you need more information about the other person, before you can decide? What would it take to buy your LOVE or is the concept completely phony?

Sorry if i'm not in love then there is no way of holding me. to me gifts are nice but its not going to make me stay if i am not happy with the person i am with.

No. I would rather see evidence of love through behavior. I do not actually need gifts of any kind when I'm in love. Not that I'll refuse them if given, but it is only the icing on the cake.

Growing up, when I had an argument or disagreement with my mom, rather than talking about it or resolving the issue - she'd just go buy me something. So that has 0 appeal to me.

I've never had a Sugar Daddy. I wonder if I can get one at my age?

Eh, I'll probably be bored as hell by the end of the first evening.

(No, Love would not enter the equation at any point. I just like the idea of being spoiled like a little bitch.)

You can buy sex but not love (just walk around Monaco...).

Nope, it takes time and attention. You have to be willing to risk letting your partner see who you are at your core.

Nope, but it can help support love. You can also buy things that show you care and listen, but that doesn't always take as much money.

Honestly, I have to say you can't. At least in my experience and for myself, you can't. Maybe other people's love can be bought, but not this girl. I'll admit, it does help! Ha Ha. Im kind of kidding. I know a girl (one of my sisters... SHHH! LOL) who do feel that their love can be bought. Well, it's more like, if you buy me things, I'll PRETEND to love you. It's wild, but she's actually pretty proud to admit this. Lol. She's in the process of working someone over right as we speak and she's giddy about it! Lol.

As for me, I have a bigger heart. My sister enjoys this kind of "lifestyle" and she tells me she feels empowered by it. Me, I am the total opposite. Strange since we happen to be twins! Of course I feel special when someone thinks of me and does do kind things for me, but that does not only apply to material things or money. My mom's way of showing love is by buying her loved ones things or doing something for us, like buying us something sentimental. It doesn't mean I'll give her love in return. I'm grateful and so happy, but it's mostly because she THOUGHT of me when she seen an owl necklace while on vacation and got it for me. I would've felt just as special had she simply brought me a seashell or sent me an "I'm thinking of you text message."

My partner, he likes to buy things for his loved ones too. He really loves it. I've never seen anyone so happy to buy for other people. It's nice. He gets excited to do it. That's what makes it so special.

I have had a guy try to buy my love with money and cigs. LOL. He'd bring me smokes every weekend in hopes of a date. I was a teenager then and according to him "he was in love." I made it clear that I didn't see him that way no matter how many smokes he bought me. He claimed not to care, but it wasn't true. He was desperate for a female. It still never made me love him, and I don't think money or anything material wise could make me really love someone. For me, it's either there or it isn't.

Money can sure buy SEX. Money can indeed buy someone who loves MONEY....and many people DO fall in love with the stuff, and the goodies it can buy. Can it buy love for the person WITH the money? NO WAY. Simply take all their cash, give it to someone else and see where the "affection" of the person courted with the coin goes!!!!

Totally depends on the person and situation. I always said that if I didn't find someone I absolutely loved I'd find a sugar daddy or sugar mamma, and I had someone in mind just before meeting my hubby. Yes, money CAN buy MY love at least, but it doesn't have to, and hubby offers me something that is far more valuable than money. But I'm not above being bought lol. I won't lie, I love pretty things.

Depends on what my relationship status is and the person. If I was single and wasn't having much luck with dating. I would definitely be tempted and allow someone to temporarily buy my love. It wouldn't be love like I love my hubby, but it would be love as in a respect. If you are upfront about not actually loving the person, then I am totally fine with you allowing someone to buy your compassion and companionship, but you shouldn't trick them to thinking you love them.

I don't think you can buy love in any way. It will give you false emotional or emotions for the items you get but not for the person giving them to you always. I firmly believe something that is heartfelt even if it is cheaper means more then way expensive gifts.
