:/ eeh I don't like drinking or smoking. I can relate to your loss of memory, when I blacked out I did not remember half of what happened. Yea! Its so crazy how people explain what happened, but its so hard to believe.

LOL! I was screamed at too and I was being smacked in the face with rubbing alcohol. TIP: When someone passes out, put rubbing alcohol by their nostrils because It helps wake up the mind and its bad to keep someone blacked out for a long while.

A few times. Once at the vet's office due to low blood sugar, twice after giving blood, and once after very being drugged at a bar. Luckily I was with someone who kept me safe.

I black out on a fairly regular basis. I don't have a diagnosed medical issue like some others here..mine's caused by slight brain damage. It's not enough to effect me emotionally, psychologically, socially, academically, or even physically for the most part, but it does cause me to black out when I sit down or stand up too fast, bend over in half, keep my head bent down for too long, or spin. I've had three serious concussions in my life and they're what's caused this issue.

If you're curious about those, feel free to read..if not, I've separated it so no one wastes their time:
The first was the summer I was 3..my older sister hit me in the head with a baseball bat while practicing her swing for little league. I was in 3rd grade for the second one..I was tripped by an older kid at a skating party and fell so hard that I hit my head on the roller rink floor, bounced up, and hit it again. I was also diagnosed with chronic migraines in 9th grade (which I've since grown out of, thank god!)and the medication I was put on to prevent them messed with my blood pressure. While I was still getting used to being on those, I stood up to leave a class to quickly. I blacked out as I was standing up and smacked my head on the side of my desk on the way to the floor, resulting in my third concussion and 7 stitches.

I try to be more careful now so it doesn't happen nearly as often as it used to (though I have to admit to occasionally doing it on purpose to get out of a test or something like that..I was so used to it that it wasn't scary anymore and it was a good way to get out of school for the rest of the day), but it still does occasionally. My boyfriend's really good about it though and if he notices me starting to go, he does his best to catch me and put me somewhere soft and out of the way until I wake up. I'm usually only out for a few minutes, but he also knows to call for an ambulance and has my parent's numbers in case I'm out for too long.

Yes when I got pregnant with my 2 daughter I started having black outs. I went to the doctor and he said I was epileptic (when I wasn't) and again in 1998 I was in a car wreck and suffered a closed head injury. To this day I still black out without passing out. I just loose large blocks of time. The only way I'm aware of it is when my husband will ask me about something and I have no idea what he is talking about. From movies or shows to not being able to recall conversations or actions I've done. My doctor doesn't know what to make of it.

I have the same problem as well (although my doctors call it Neurocardiogenic Syncope), but mine isn't from a mal-formed artery. Mine is caused due to a mis-communication between my brain and my body rather than a physical anomaly or issue. It just fails to properly control my heart rate and blood pressure. There is very little to do for it, and very few treatment options that actually work.

I am currently disabled by it, and on disability because of it. I was diagnosed nearly a decade ago with the issue.

For me, when I have a syncope episode, or near-syncope episode, I am very, very ill. Can't talk, can't see, can't think, get extremely hot, sweat profusely, get very nauseous, and more things that are too numerous to list. If it happens during the day, I will then be extremely sick the rest of that day and then usually for several days after.

I was completely bedridden with it in the beginning. With certain meds and some major lifestyle changes I am now able to function at a higher level. I will never be "normal" or healthy, and it is still impossible for me to work a full time, 9-5 job - but at least I'm not bedridden all day everyday anymore.

Good luck with your case, LL. If you ever want to chat about it, send me a PM! I know how much it sucks!

Not from alcohol.

But, I have really low blood pressure and tend to faint or black out fairly often. It's gotten better as I've gotten a little older and my BP has risen slightly (still within normal range) and it doesn't happen as often.

It used to happen with the heat, if I got dehydrated or had a fever. Very scary if it happened in public or at home.

I have to say the alcohol thing can be dangerous. Inhaling alcohol or absorbing it through the skin, especially if you are sick, can cause serious problems. DO NOT do this.

Cold water or a cold compress and keep the person lying down is best.

Hospitals use ammonia "poppers" sometimes when someone passes out, but they should not be used by lay people.

When I was pregnant with my first child I blacked out once. I was at my mom's sister's house. She has 6 children and there was about 10 adults too. The children were playing Guitar Hero and the adults we talking. Everyone was so loud. I started too feel funny, so decided I needed to go outside for some fresh air. I got outside and feel to the ground in the drive way. My hubby had followed me to make sure I was okay. I ended up having to leave. I think there was too much going on and too many loud noises that my body was like GET OUT OF HERE!

It happened to me one time as a kid because I was impatient to finish a class project and didn't eat enough. Since then, I'm always a bit scared of not eating enough, always eat a little before leaving home/job place/... and bring food on the way so I can eat if I feel like something is wrong. Though most of the time I don't need it, it's nice to know it's here just in case.

Only ever from excessive drinking while at university. It's pretty disorientating the first couple of times and something that's best avoided.
