Here's a bizarre alien poll...

Contributor: GONE! GONE!
So a conspiracy-loving family member was telling me about an alien documentary she watched recently, and she said that she now thinks there are thousands of species of aliens. You?
Answers (public voting - your screen name will appear in the results):
I think there's maybe one to a few, not many.
Maybe a hundred? Not a ton!
Thousands sounds about right.

We finally just watched Cowboys vs Aliens and despite the incredible star power and director/producer power, we think it was NOT as good as Outlander.

We live in an incomprehensibly vast universe. It's pretty narrow-minded to believe that we are somehow the only intelligent life that has managed to spawn in it.

That being said, I'm not so sure that any has come to Earth. What would be the point?

I am sure in this universe that there are millions, if not billions of species of life. As for how many have come to THIS planet? Well, that would be ZERO!!!! Distances are simply TOO darned great.

As humans we are curious about just about everything even from the get-go! Always wanting to learn and see new things, and if there are Aliens out there that are as curious as us but more advanced in space travel I'm sure they would visit another planet with intelligent life(EARTH!!)

Possibly, but there are also so many possible other planets with intelligent life, that I don't think we'd rate very high on the list, if they did have super-advanced space travel.

There are most definitely thousands if not millions & billions of other life forms out there. The universe is never ending. It would be naive to believe there isn't any other life existing out there.

The universe is so large I wouldn't be surprised if there was something else out there.

I voted that I only believe in llama's because none of the other ones worked for me. I believe that there are many many many alien species, but that there's probably a ton more less developed more like single cell bacteria and stuff than complex has-a-space-fleet kind. Those may exist, and there may be a lot since the universe is quite a large place. But I'm guessing really spread out. I imagine we'll find smaller stuff first. Intelligent life seems rare, at least for our little corner of the universe.

Those documentaries are hysterical. They're such bullshit.

Probably tons of species out there in the universe, but I don't think they'll ever make it here.

Our universe, alone, is so huge that it is more unlikey that Earth would have the only life forms.

That reminds me of the time I saw a guy working at a supermarket who was a dead ringer for young Elvis! The name on his nametag? Elvis, unsurprisingly.

The billions and billions theory is a hoax. No aliens will be discovered in my lifetime - but the Pollyannas will persist.

Mathematically... given how many galaxies are out there, how many stars, how many planets, how many moons, etc. billions and billions of forms of non-terrestrial life seems downright conservative.

But it is pretty unlikely we will discover anything more highly advanced than bacteria in our own solar system, and it's even more unlikely that we will get outside our solar system in the next century.

I suspect that not only the distance would be an impediment but "why?" to study us? LOL! About the only reason that I could consider would to take the resources from our planet. In that case we would simply be pests to be ignored or eradicated.
